As I waited for Naruto's team to arrive, I chatted with team Gai.

"I'm glad you guys made it," I tell their team. "And thank you for your help, Lee."

"Will you go on a date now!" Lee says with a grin.

"While you helped me, you still haven't beaten me in battle. My answer remains the same."

Tenten puts her arm around Lee, "Maybe some other time."

Neji then turns to look at me, "It's amazing you made it, but I can tell it wasn't easy." His eyes veer to the blood staining my clothes.

"I had an unexpected visitor," I whisper to him, hoping he understands what I mean.

"He came back?" he whispered in response. I nod my head and he turns away. After saying my goodbyes I head over to a place to open my scrolls. They come together to form a poem about balance between body and mind. It didn't really matter, but out comes Setami Sensei, who gives me a hug and congratulates me on making it.

"Setami Sensei, he was here." I tell her and therefore ruining the moment.

"We've caught word. There was an assassinated team on ninja found and it looks like his specialty jutsu was used. Did he hurt you?"

"We fought, and I almost lost, but he left toward the end of the battle. I had come to the conclusion that his other target was none other than Sasuke. Our battle confirmed this theory."

Setami looked at me with serious eyes, "I see. Please keep your guard up Madi."

"One more thing Setami Sensei," I say before she vanishes once again. "I know they were trying to kill Sasuke and I, but today I ended up killing two people..."

Once more Setami Sensei pulls me into a hug, "That's the world we live in Madi. You're tough, and it sucks how you became who you are, but know you're a Shinobi. No matter what, this was going to happen. You've done nothing wrong." And with that, she poofs away.

For a second I'm standing alone with my thoughts, but I'm interrupted by a familiar voice. "Don't worry about that Madevila. You get used to the killing."

My body turns and I'm standing face to face with Gaara. My expression turns menacing and I peer into his eyes, "Of course you would know, Gaara."

This comment throws him off a bit, "So you've figured it out. You and I are one in the same Madevila. Two beasts born for one cause, killing. No matter how much you run you can't change that fact."

"You're wrong. I'm not just what's inside me, and neither are you. You've let yourself fall into darkness. I don't kill for the fun of it, and I only did out of necessity."

"How do you know so much?"

"Call it a hunch."

I walk away when he grabs my arm. "I look forward to fighting you," he whispers in my ear. I yank my arm away from his grasps. "As do I."

Team Kakashi enters the building just in the nick of time. I give Naruto a hug, so relieved that he's safe. Kabuto walks in with them and I get a weird feeling from him. He doesn't seem right.

"I'm glad you're safe, and passed the challenge." I say while looking up to Naruto.

"Yeah, I was pretty great back there," he boasts.

The team begins to go into a room to open their scroll, but Sasuke gives me a quick hand squeeze when no one was looking. My eyes meet his and I give him a smile, I hope he noticed.

When they're gone I turn to Kabuto, "Why'd you help out my brother?"

"Only time will tell," Kabuto responds before walking away. I'm left alone for a few moments when the Hokage comes in and calls everyone to the center room. When everyone is there, I find Naruto and I end up between him and Sasuke. The hokage tells us how there are too many people going into the final round, so we will have preliminary matches starting immediately. This almost made me mad as I really wanted to shower.

Out of the corner of my eye, I see Sakura begging Sasuke not to compete in the next rounds. Does she seriously think she'll be able to get Sasuke to back down? Naruto then starts to caution him to but Sasuke says something to him,

"Naruto, you're one of the ones I want to fight most."

These words made me weirdly happy. Of course the fight wouldn't be good, seeing as the two boys do nothing but prove themselves to each other, but Sasuke is finally accepting Naruto as an equal.

"Sasuke, you need to compete. But as soon as you are done, you must get out of here and talk to Kakashi." My words are serious, and Sasuke picked up on that. He nodded and everyone headed to the arena.

Two names are drawn at a time, the first one is Kabuto's and the second one is mine.

"Be careful," Sasuke says in an almost nice tone. Almost.

"Good luck Madi! Kick his butt!" Naruto says before I head off. While in the arena, I see team Gai waving at me, and Shikamaru is dangling over the edge. Kabuto jumps down and we face each other.

"I look forward to this fight," Kabuto says slyly. Something isn't right about him, but what?

"Same here four eyes."

We step away and bow to each other. The proctor says go, and we both jump backward. I pull out my sai and Kabuto throws two kunai at me. I quickly deflect them and leap into the air. Kabuto then runs across to the other side of the arena, resulting in us swapping places. His hand starts to glow green, is that medical ninjutsu? My eyes widen and he comes charging at me. He's very fast and I know I have to pick it up a bit. Dodging his attacks, I look for an opening. At one point he leaves his right side open and I put some chakra into my leg as I kick him. His body goes flying into the wall, and leaves a dent, but he gets up immediately. This kid is seriously strong, something about him failing seven tries straight just doesn't seem believable.

Now, both his hands are glowing green. One hit from him and I'm out. We keep going in this pattern, I dodge and he attacks. Somehow I need to take the upper hand, but I know I don't have any defenses against medical ninjutsu besides dodging his attacks. He's obviously experienced with hand to hand combat, and I am not. There is no way this kid is a genin.

Help me out here

"How exciting..."

Everything around me developed a red tint and my nails start to change. Nothing too extreme, but it quickens my speed some. My body rushes to the edge of the arena, and I throw two kunai at him to buy me some time. While he is busy dodging these, I ready some hand signs. "Lightning style, lightning dance jutsu," I whisper to myself. The jutsu isn't perfect since I haven't had many chances to practice it, but it's still very effective. My hand points at Kabuto, and as it does, Kabuto throws two kunai at me. My lightning strike gets a direct hit on him, but his two kunai launch straight into my stomach.

Black spots start to cloud my vision, but I still search for Kabuto. His body is laying on the ground and he doesn't appear to be moving. A metallic taste becomes present in my mouth, and I try not to fall to the ground. The proctor just stares at me and quickly declares me the winner since Kabuto is no longer able to move.

Once the decision was made, I didn't feel the need to stand for any longer. My head is spinning and I fall backward into Kakashi's arms.

"I have to have a talk with Setami," he mumbles to himself. My consciousness slips away. God... I really wanted to see those other fights.
