Taehyung and Jungkook finally woke up when the car eased to a halt beneath the porte-cochère of the resort they would stay in, Jimin and Seokjin prompting them to get off since a valet waited outside to drive the car to the parking lot.
As everyone else busied themselves unloading the luggage amidst excited chitchat— with his eyes squeezed shut and face scrunched, Taehyung stretched on his seat, groaning and cursing under his breath because he had successfully earned himself a sore neck (karma, Jungkook would say; selfish, Taehyung would retort). Although other than that, he felt quite refreshed. He hadn't slept uninterrupted, no. At one point during the drive, he had been jolted awake by PSY's Gentleman blasting through the speakers and everyone yelling, ❝I'm a– I-I'm a– I'm a mother father gentleman!~❞ in utterly shameless unison— only to smile dopily and nod along to the beat briefly before sleep had mercifully dragged him back under for the remainder of the journey.
Jungkook, however, looked as though he hadn't woken even once the entire ride. His face was adorably puffy, his eyebrows knitted into a permanent scowl as he practically dragged himself out of the car before sleepwalking up the steps to the foyer. He looked so groggy, so hopelessly disoriented, with a violent pout weighing down his lips, that he didn't even stop Yoongi from wheeling his trolley for him, accepting the maknae treatment without looking guilty or apologising profusely for once.
"Whoa! Daebak!" Hoseok whisper-exclaimed the moment they stepped inside, his jaw going slack as his eyes darted from one corner of the foyer to the other.
"It's gorgeous," Jimin agreed with a grin, "The pictures on the website definitely didn't do it justice."
They really hadn't. The resort looked even grander in reality.
Early afternoon sunlight spilled in through the floor-to-ceiling windows that provided an uninterrupted view of the serene beach beyond, painting artsy patches of gold across the marble floor, polished to the kind of shine that makes you feel guilty for walking on it in shoes. Every time the automatic doors slid open behind them, a cool, salty breeze wandered in from the sea, mingling with the subtle fragrance of fresh lilies arranged around the lounge, which was adorned with plush sofas in muted beige and walnut tones. Soft piano music floated through hidden speakers, almost drowned out by the chatter of arriving guests and the whirring of luggage wheels.
Everything looked expensive without trying too hard.
"Damn..." Yoongi muttered, giving a low whistle before catching himself. "Okay, this was worth the money."
As two bellboys carried their luggage towards reception, Namjoon and Seokjin peeled away from the group to deal with the check-in, Yoongi following them, leaving the others to explore around the lounge, except Jungkook, who simply flopped down onto one of the armchairs, still shaking off the lingering haze of sleep, hoodie covering nearly half his face.
Hoseok ran up straight to the windows, palms instinctively pressing against the glass like a kid as he looked out over the stretch of sand and blue outside.
"Look at that view!" He gushed, and then his excited voice echoed across the foyer. "Yah, Jimin-ah! Take a picture of me here! Come on! Instagram is going to have a field day."
