The next morning when Jungkook opened his eyes, the first thing that came to his mind was the thought of checking his phone. Not because he was certain his social media was flooding with birthday wishes, nor because he was expecting to see missed calls or texts from Lisa that could be close to an apology.
But because he needed to see if there were any updates from Seokjin about Taehyung.
However, to his disappointment AND relief, there weren't. He didn't even know those two emotions could be felt simultaneously, but as much as he understood that nothing from Seokjin meant nothing happened to Taehyung again, he was really hoping for updates about the guy's current condition, especially considering last night he hadn't even gotten the chance to meet him after everything.
While they had been in the green room, changing out of their encore outfits and eagerly looking forward to Seokjin coming back from the waiting room with a perfectly fine Taehyung, Ji-yeong had come backstage to introduce them to Mr. Kang, who had asked them unnecessarily curt questions about various other things than actually telling them if he had liked their performances enough to consider signing them.
And by the time the father-daughter duo had left (Jungkook couldn't tell if they were actually that insufferable, or if the irritation had been induced by his own impatience to check on Taehyung) and they had returned to the green room, they had been informed that Seokjin had already gone home with Taehyung, leaving the boy feeling an odd uneasiness and discomfort in his chest that had stubbornly resided there until a couple hours later when Seokjin had finally texted him.
And Jungkook had been able to breathe a bit better. Not fully well though, because the thought that Taehyung's condition had been so intense that it rendered him unable to recall anything afterwards, had been concerning in itself.
