Dizzy. Taehyung's head felt a bit dizzy when he slowly opened his eyes as the effect of his benzodiazepine started fading, although leaving him feeling light and serene, momentarily disabling him from remembering why he had been sleeping in the first place.
With half-lidded eyes he turned his head at the window, finding the sky cloudy, no trace of Sun in sight — it was going to rain soon, again — but what time was it? Seriously though, why was he sleeping like this, with his feet dangling off the bed?
Queen was still singing that same song over and over again in his ears as he moved his hands around himself to find his phone so that he could lower the volume and check the time.
4:46. Taehyung jolted up on the bed. The fuck was he doing sleeping at such an odd hour? His lockscreen was filled with unread texts and missed calls, Mrs. Jeon's name on top of them all — 4 missed calls; right above the name of her son —Jungkook.
And scanning that name, even with his slightly blurred vision, was enough for Taehyung to remember it all in a flash, the reason he was sleeping — Xanax. He had taken Xanax because he was afraid a panic attack was knocking at his door when Jungkook was right there in front of him, saying unexpected things and completely misunderstanding him...
Taehyung didn't know how to feel. Sad? Angry? Guilty? He couldn't tell whether it was the lingering effect of his drug that was making him feel rather numb about it, only a slight sting in his heart as his eyes went over to the kitchenette and found the plates and utensils still sitting there on the granite counter, waiting to be washed.
By him alone.
Of course by you alone, Kim Taehyung! Don't tell me you got used to having company in your apartment after spending just a few hours with Jungkook. You are supposed to live alone, just like before. You're supposed to stay lonely, like always.
His phone rang in his hands, dragging him out of his head with a little flinch as he looked down. Mrs. Jeon again.
Taehyung frowned. Why was she calling him so many times? Was everything okay? Did Jungkook reach home safely? Or, did he not go home at all? Nothing happened to him, right? Anything bad...
With a knot twisting in his stomach, Taehyung quickly answered the call, putting the phone to his right ear.
"Taehyung-ah!" The first words came from Mrs. Jeon, almost like a sulky whine, "Why weren't you answering your phone? I called you, like, some 5-6 times. Even Jungkookie called you once. But you didn't pick up. Do you know how worried we got? Are you okay?"
So, if Mrs. Jeon knew that Jungkook called him, then it meant that he was home and he was safe, right? But why would Jungkook call him, even after how he had left, or, how Taehyung had made him leave...?
Taehyung decided to keep the questions in his mind and replied, "Sorry, eomeoni, I was sleeping. Is everything alright?"
"You tell me. Something happened between you and Jungkookie. Didn't it?" Mrs. Jeon's bothered yet I'm-so-done-with-the-two-of-you voice came from the other side, "I can tell it from the way he's been acting ever since coming back home."
