[A/N : Just a reminder again that these characters are not any saints. They are flawed and will make wrong choices - both intentionally and helplessly. It might make you mad at them and probably even hate them. But that's what makes them appear more real to me, because I've seen and dealt with such people in life. I'm pretty sure we all have. So, I will earnestly hope you understand rather than just being angry. Happy reading <3]

"I...I think I...I think we should take a break."
Those words took their sweet yet cruel time registering in Lisa's brain, making a chance for a stark silence to linger in the air between them, heavy and suffocating even when they were outside in the open parking lot, the night breeze of late October chilly on her skin.
And when she finally gained the ability to speak, it was one word.
"Wh-what?" Even that came out stuttered.
Jungkook took in a shuddered breath, feeling his pulse under the skin of his nape as his brain incited him to say the next words, the leash of his tongue still in its control,
"I need a break. From this..." He gestured at the space between himself and Lisa, "You and me."
It almost hit Lisa like a truck when his voice came out firmer than earlier, a determination in his words, a finality that made her wonder if it was bothering him half as it was doing her.
Because she understood what a break meant, that sometimes in some relationships, it's a necessary step to clear the clutter in your head and figure out what you want in the long run - steer things to a better direction or let it go for good.
And that one certain part of her mind that was so indifferently atrocious to her was whispering in her ears that it was going to be the latter in their case, that this wasn't a semicolon to start a new clause, but the initiation of a full-stop.
Or, maybe an ellipsis would be more appropriate, a mark of something unfinished...
"Is this a joke?" She found herself asking, laughing at herself in her mind for how miserably she sought a confirmation. As if! She knew that it was just another wishful thinking. Jungkook had started slipping out of her reach a long time ago. She did feel it, didn't she? The proposition of a break was like how you see the lightning first and hear the thunder later.
