So, Taehyung and Jungkook rode the pirate ship again, much to the protest of the rest of the boys, although in the end the hyungs were happy to see the birthday boy and Taehyung (whose well-being was a big priority too) enjoy, how they were all smiles and giggles, screaming the lyrics to Some by BOL4— the pre-chorus of which was suddenly appearing a little too relatable to Jungkook.

Anyways, once Taehyung and he had had enough of the pirate ship (Namjoon and Seokjin basically had to drag them out), they proceeded to go for the other rides— the Go-Karts (Namjoon stayed back since he didn't know how to drive), the Drop Tower (Jungkook was the only one who rode that), the Water Flume (which left Yoongi hella mad as it got his clothes wet), the carousel, the Bumper Cars, the Tilt-a-Whirl, and all the other rides that fell on their way, and obviously the rollercoaster that Taehyung skipped even after Jungkook requested him quite a few times, whereas Hoseok couldn't but give in to the temptation and rode it with everybody else, ending up so sick later on that he had to skip all the next rides.

Time flies fast when you're having fun with the people you love. And likewise to the boys, even five hours seemed to have appeared short and gone-too-quick while enjoying the rides, taking multiple pictures as souvenirs, eating cotton candies and funnel cakes and ice creams, attending a small music festival that was going on in the park, and everything else they could try within those hours.

And what were Taehyung and Jungkook doing during the course of it all? Reminiscing countless funny memories of their childhood, teasing each other for silly things they had once said or done, playing 'guess the movie from three words', Taehyung was sometimes mocking and mimicking weird kids present in the park and making Jungkook laugh. Long story short, most of the time the two of them stuck together, trailing behind the rest of the group as they walked side by side. (If the hyungs found it surprising, they kept quiet about it.)

Jungkook was happy. Very much. Obviously because his hyungs had as always put in great efforts to ensure he enjoyed his birthday, but also because Taehyung was continuously, without even trying, making him happy, doing things that made him laugh in a way he hadn't in a long time. And yet, among all those things that made him temporarily forget about his worries, the most effective one was watching Taehyung being happy.

There was something so heartwarming about it that Jungkook had never realised before, at least not before watching how pale those cheeks could get that were puffing up whenever he flashed his bright boxy grin, as if his face couldn't contain the wideness of them; not before watching those eyes that were now forming pretty crescents, get wide and full of panic. It was only the exposure to the stark contrast to this happiness that made Jungkook realise how beautiful Taehyung's smile truly was. He wouldn't admit it to himself, but deep down somewhere, it made him want to keep making Taehyung smile— a sort of feeling he wasn't familiar with feeling even for his own girlfriend.

Lisa's smile was pretty too, so bright that it was capable of lighting up anybody's mood, but Taehyung's smile-...God, it felt like the warmest, cosiest fireplace in the world, gentle like the spring breeze that makes cherry blossoms drift down to the ground. It wouldn't make Jungkook's heart race, but worse, it would fill his chest with so much air so suddenly that he would forget even the most instinctive physiological function of his body: breathing. And the way Taehyung's lips would take the shape of a heart, fuck, it was making it harder for him to get his mind off of the dream about wanting to kiss the guy, the brand new urge to squish those cheeks accompanying it.
