Silence.

For the first minute all Taehyung and Jungkook could manage to offer each other was silence.

A silence so profound and awkward that Jungkook could guarantee Taehyung, standing not even a foot away from him, was able to hear his rapid heartbeat alongside the sounds of their breathings and occasional rustling of their clothes against the ones in Namjoon's closet. The sound of music blasting outside couldn't really reach their ears past all the barriers.

God, this wasn't what Jungkook signed up for! If he would've known it beforehand, he would've never agreed to it. He was hoping to get a scope to talk to the older, away from the prying eyes of the others present in the party, but it looked like Taehyung wasn't at all interested in starting a conversation with him, and now he had no other choice but to tolerate the suffocating heat, the blinding darkness and the inadequate space inside the small closet for three-sixty more seconds! Wonderful, wasn't it? Taehyung keeping his mouth shut was just a cherry on top!

Jungkook was about to let another one of his frequent sighs of frustration fall out of his lips, almost audibly in the hushed atmosphere, when the godawful silence finally dissipated, thank heavens...and Taehyung.

"Why did you agree to this?"

The short question came from the older, ocean-deep voice giving away nothing for Jungkook to understand whether he was eager to know the reason or angry with the younger for dragging him into this situation.

"As much as I knew, you'd never want to play seven minutes in heaven with me of all people, considering everything that happened." Taehyung flatly said, Jungkook's heartbeat simultaneously faltering and rising. Maybe it was the fact that he was hearing that voice from that close after so many days. In the quiet, small space of the closet, Taehyung's voice somewhat appeared more intimidating to him.

"Most importantly, your girlfriend is here. I'm sure she doesn't fancy the idea of her boyfriend locked up in a closet with another guy. Jimin was easily going to let it pass. Why did you suddenly stand up and...?" Taehyung trailed off, a tinge of shakiness in his voice, although not too much for Jungkook to notice, "You didn't have to."

"I didn't have to?" Jungkook asked, surprised and bewildered as he turned his head to his left at Taehyung, even though his eyes weren't yet used to the darkness to figure out the older guy's face. Lisa's thought didn't even bother him now that the bizarre longing was taking over his mind, hard and fast. "You didn't see how the others were getting all riled up at us or what? I just wanted to play fair."

"You think anyone would have cared if you wouldn't have 'played fair'?" Taehyung scoffed, sliding his hands inside his pockets and hoping they would stop trembling as he repeatedly chanted to himself that he would be out in seven minutes, he was fine, he was safe, Jungkook was with him, he wouldn’t be locked here alone for hours, Namjoon would come back. Words still quivering around the edges, he continued, "You're not gonna be in touch with most of them after tonight, Jungkook. Why does it matter what they would thi-"

"Just cut to the chase, why don't you?" Jungkook suddenly snapped, forcing Taehyung to stop in the middle of his sentence. "Just say you're annoyed and disappointed that I'm your partner and go." He said, a small lump coming up to his throat, "I know you were anticipating someone else, something better than this. I know! It's you who'd never want to play seven minutes in heaven with me. That's not the case from my side. I rather wanted this!"
