"You don't even want to see what else is there because like I told you all those weeks ago, YOU CAN'T FUCKING STOP ASSUMING SHIT, GODDAMN IT! You don't even try to see the fact that it's YOU, that Kim Taehyung has been trying to fucking change for YOU, Jeon Jungkook!"

Everything had frozen for Jungkook there.

Every other particle in his peripheral vision had blurred away, blown out pupils fixated only on Taehyung's wide eyes that mirrored the disbelief in his own ones.

Jungkook couldn't comprehend what exactly he had been feeling - if he had even been feeling anything at all. The initial shock of the unforeseen revelation was so extreme that it had suddenly started ingurgitating him into a state similar to that of a paralysis. Strange how one second all his senses had been heightened to an extent to make him hyperventilate but in the next, they had turned numb, so much so that he couldn't even stop Taehyung from leaving him like that.

Hell, by the time he could even figure out that Taehyung had been running away, the older had already gone out of his sight, never returning.

Jungkook didn't know how long he had stood there in the alley unmoving and unfeeling before he had been heading out. He didn't know after how many drawn out minutes (could be an eternity) had he been standing in front of his car, having no idea how he had found it either, and he definitely didn't know how he had somehow managed to safely drive back home.

His mind had apparently been blank the whole time - until he was plopping down on one of the wicker chairs in their balcony and staring ahead at the familiar lines of trees in his mom's garden, that it slowly began to dawn on him in a terrible intensity, like a disastrous storm hitting a town after hours of eerie silence and uncomfortable calmness as he felt a whirlwind spiralling up in his heart as well, a whirlwind of echoing words and fragments of images.

"You're really dumb, you know? Do you think that I would waste so many words on you if you would've been like the rest?"

"Why am I not like the rest?"

Jungkook felt his stomach twist a little at that memory, to think back at how he had never let Taehyung answer that question, how he had reached a self-proclaimed conclusion before the older could even attempt to say something.

"It really hurt me when you said that it's all just a pretense, y'know, how I act with you. I wish you'd stop seeing it like I'm playing with you and rather see it as what it is, the truth, see how I...how I really-...really...how I really feel somethi-"

"The tea is getting cold."

Jungkook hadn't let Taehyung finish his sentence that time either.

"At least she's not using me for her entertainment, unlike you."

"I'm not using you for my entertainment, Jungkook."

"No? What do you want from me then? What is it?...See? You don't have an answer."

He hadn't waited long enough for an answer. He never wanted to wait long enough for an answer, for Taehyung to explain himself.
