Nakatambay ako sa bintana sa loob ng council office ng academy, nakikinig sa nakakarinding lambingan ng dalawang lovers.
"Aero! Cordelia! Please naman, nandito ako."
Sabay na napatawa ang dalawa. Yeah right. These childhood friends were really made for each other.
"Hindi ka talaga sasama, Aero?" tanong ko at umalis mula sa bintana. I was just looking the busy town of Ibera below. This palace-like structure of the academy makes it easier to view the town.
"Hindi." Itinuro niya ang mga nakahilerang papeles na nasa desk niya. Kanina pa niya 'yan binabasa hindi pa ba siya tapos? It's the end of the week! "The reports I had to sort them out."
"Bakit ba kasi ang daming sumusuway sa mga batas? As if they're reasonable." Pagrereklamo ni Cordelia na nakasandal sa desk ni Aero. "Sayang. Pupunta pa naman kami sa palasyo."
"Oo na. Ako na naiinggit. Hindi ba't ngayon kayo pupunta?" Tumayo siya sa kinauupuan at lumapit sa bintanang pinagstambayan ko kanina. "It's nearly sunset mukh—oh? Nandiyan na ang barko niyo oh?"
"What?!" Agad akong hinila ni Cordelia at muntik pang bumangga sa mahabang mesa. "Stop being clumsy for once, Eira!"
"Sorry!"
"See yah later love!" Pahabol na sigaw ni Cordelia bago kami tuluyang lumabas ng office at agad na sumalubong sa amin ang mataong hallway.
If only we could fly we would but we're not an air elemental user and it's kind of against the academy rules.
"Tabi!"
The moment we step outside the campus we immediately rode the nearest carriage available. I could even hear Cordelia ranting to the coachman. Ako naman ay panay hingi ng paumanhin nang makababa kami.
"Lia? Eira?" Napalingon kami sa babaeng kakababa lang din mula sa ibang kalesa. "Akala ko hindi na ako makakaabot."
"Emily?" Lumapit ako sa kaniya kasama si Cordelia. "Bakit ka nandito?"
"Uuwi ako, obviously?"
Emily is Prince Samael's adoptive daughter from an orphanage in Silas. I know quite a few about her even before she was adopted. My brother had some strange attachment issues with that orphanage since we were young so everything that's happening there, he knows.
"I mean obviously you were pero akala namin umuwi ka na kagabi? You even asked the headma—"
"Shh!" Agad na tinakpan ni Emily ang bibig ni Cordelia. I know where this is going. "I lied okay? Geez. There's a theater performance in Ibera last night how could I miss it?"
Emily's obsess with theater so it's no wonder she's lied to the headmaster about it. Hindi madaling lokohin ang headmaster kaya alam kong hindi naging madali ang pag-acting niya.
Before Cordelia could scold Emily about it I drag them both to the ship.
This is why I hate traveling on the seas.
"Eira? You okay?"
"She's fine. Ganiyan talaga 'yan pag nasasakay ng barko." Sagot naman ni Cordelia.
Pag-uusap ng dalawa habang inaalalayan nila ako sa banyo ng barko. I've been vomiting for minutes already. I'll never get used to this. Tinaas ko lang ang dalawa kong kamay mula sa lababo upang siguraduhin silang maayos lang ako.
