"What did you want to talk about?" Elena asked Sasha as she sat down on a rock.

They had gone into the woods, not too far from the party but far enough for the music to not be too loud so that they could hear each other without raising their voices.

Sasha sighed. She wasn't used to being nervous. Especially when it came to her friends.

But she felt nerves eat at her as she tried to finally let out the words that had been eating up at her all summer.

"I wanted to talk about that night." She cleared her throat. "The night - the night of the accident."

Elena's face dropped. She looked at the ground.

"Sash, no offence but -"

"I know you probably don't want to talk about it." Sasha spoke hurriedly. "But I just wouldn't be able to live with myself if I didn't apologize."

Elena sat up straighter. "Apologize? Apologize about what?"

Sasha looked at the ground. "For ditching you that night. I told you that I would stay with you but I - I didn't. I just left you."

Elena sat there is silence for a while. She didn't look at Sasha or anyone in particular.

"Sometimes I do wonder what would have happened if I hadn't called my parents." Elena spoke in a small voice. "But I can't think like that. Neither can you. The truth is no one could change what happened that night and no one is to blame either."

Sasha frowned at Elena still feeling guilty but grateful that she harboured no hard feelings.

"But where did you disappear to?" Elena asked curiously. "I tried to look for you but you were no where to be found."

Sasha took in a deep breath. "The truth is that I disappeared because I- I was with Mason."

Elena's furrowed her brows.

"Mason? As in Mason Lockwood?" She asked.

"Yes. That would be the one." Sasha responded unenthused.

Elena was silent for a while then her mouth formed an 'o'.

"Wait. When you say you were with him. Do you mean you were with him, with him?"

Sasha sighed. "Yeah, I was... I was seeing Mason Lockwood secretly."

Elena gasped and shot up. "Oh my gosh, Sash! Mason is older than us!"

"You're making it sound way worse than it is. Mason is only nineteen." Sasha responded defensively.

Elena still stared at her friend in shock. She knew Sasha had always been outgoing and unpredictable but this one took the cake.

"Does Tyler know?" She asked.

"No!" Sasha responded quickly. "And he can't find out because he will freak. In fact no one can find out. No one but you and Bonnie know." Sasha told her friend urgently.

Elena who was still in shock only nodded.

"Honestly, I suspected you had a secret boyfriend, I just didn't think it would be Mason Lockwood." Elena whispered the name as if someone could be eavesdropping.

Sasha raised her brows. "Wait, you did?"

Elena had noticed how Sasha always disappeared and took secret phone calls. Elena had her money on Julian McCall, one of the senior guys because of how they openly flirted often. She never expected it to be the Mason Lockwood.

The slightly older guy that they had all gushed about endlessly since they were twelve. Mason Lockwood had been a Mystic High superstar with his goodlooks and his famous last name. He was every Mystic Falls girl's dream guy.
