14 years later

Yup, you read it correctly. Ryan Williams. Liam and I married each other two years ago. At first Liam wanted his name to be gone, not having to associate his mother with his name anymore sounded great to him, so he happily accepted to take my name. Well, until he discovered that Liam Lander apparently was super hard to say and sounded silly. Then he suddenly didn't have any problems with his own last name anymore. Something about being proud into what he morphed the name or so. I didn't really put up a fight. I still don't really care about names, like they're names, not identities. And I have to admit, Liam Lander does sound silly, LL....

Before I proposed I went to ask Ethan if it would be okay for him to marry his brother. He looked at me as if he'd seen a ghost. "Ryan. In all seriousness: I can't even remember a time where you were not with my brother. You are family. You make us complete. If you do so as my brother's boyfriend or his husband really is irrelevant." That's all he said. Well, he probably is right. It doesn't matter what I am to a person as long as both of us are happy. I still proposed to Liam.

Nate and Andy were our best men. Eliza and Roxanne were our bridesmaids. Eliza is Nate's girlfriend. He broke up with Maya soon after high school. They were still friends, but both decided to be better off as non-lover. Roxanne is my former male best friend Jamie, who came out as transgender at age 20. I won't lie and say it was expected and totally easy, but we of course accepted it and got used to it. At the beginning a lot of unwanted and subconscious misgendering from us was part of Roxanne's journey but she is happier than ever. And we all love her the same.

Right after high school I started studying music engineering in New York, all across the country while Liam stayed at home, taking online classes and training to be a kindergarten teacher. He didn't want to pull Ethan away from his friends, they would move in with me right before Ethan would get into school where he would be with strangers anyway. If that were strangers in California or in New York didn't matter.

For a short period of time, it looked it wouldn't happen, because Liam and I split up. Like, for one month. Then we both realized we couldn't live without each other and found our way back together. Cheesy, I know.

That was by the way also when I told my parents about having a boyfriend. It just slipped out while being on the phone with them, so happy to be back together with Liam that I totally forgot who I was talking to. Through some miracle my parents had never heard about what happened at the game and I never felt the need to tell them. I figured I would tell them when I was ready. Well, coming out didn't go as planned, but it was okay. Both my parents needed some time to wrap their heads around it but quickly supported us wholeheartedly.

A few years later, at age 24, (Ethan being 10) we moved back to California, to the neighboring village of our hometown. I wanted to be close to my parents, but not too close. Liam and Ethan were okay with that, New York was too loud anyways.

Today I'm working in a music studio, as a producer. It's not like I work with all the famous artists, but I work with music, and I love it. Liam's working in the kindergarten and is all the kids' favorite teacher even if he can't see it. Ethan is planning on moving out and study psychology somewhere, hoping on becoming a successful psychologist. He also turned into some kind of a player, having 'his fourth girlfriend in half a year, claiming her to be the love of his life, just like all the ones before. Neither Liam nor I believe it. Well, Ethan will grow up too and change his ways. At least that's what we hope.

Right at the moment I'm sitting on the couch in our apartment, thinking about old times. Ethan is at his girlfriend's place and Liam is in the kitchen, making tea. I can hear him pouring the hot water in the mugs. The door separating kitchen and living room opens and I now can smell the tea. Turning my head in Liam's direction I pout slightly, wanting to be kissed. My husband laughs softly, putting the mugs down on the small table where I put on my legs. Letting himself sink into the couch he gives me his full attention. Lightly he pecks me on the lips, trying to kiss my pout away. It doesn't work. Too short. He grins. "I love you" He knows I will be happy then. I am. "I love you too" I say with a grin, slightly mad at my self to give in so easily. Liam laughs. His blue eyes sparkle and the wrinkles around them appear. Staring at his soft skin and pearly teeth, I just can think one thing. "You are beautiful." I love how I still can make him blush by just telling the truth. He laughs before pulling my face closer to him. "So are you" Then his lips are finally one mine.
