Hearing Ryan like this broke my heart. True, we had been boyfriends for less than two days and we had started tolerating each other at beginning of the school year, a bit more than three months ago. Still, I felt like we had known each other since forever! And we kinda did. I knew a lot about Ryan, just because I observed him to be able to prank him in the best way. I even knew his favourite sweets. I only found out by accident, two years ago. I had wanted to embarrass him by putting liquorice in his cupcakes so he would spit them out in front of everyone. Because no one like liquorice, right? Well, Ryan did and found his cupcakes not disgusting at all!

But back to the main topic: I laid on my bed, my phone in my hand and listened to Ryan. Sometime in the middle of it Ethan came in my room, claiming not being able to sleep, just to fall asleep on my chest rather soon. I caressed his back while telling Ryan all the reasons why he was an incredible human, until I could only hear deep breaths instead of silent sobs.

And it was true. Ryan was incredible. Even though I had gotten very uncomfortable every time someone had asked me about the hickey he had left. It was kinda scared how fast I had fallen for the guy. Sure, some people might find three months not fast at all, but considering the fact we had hated each other for years before, I found it rather quick how soon we had gone from enemies to lovers. Were we even lovers? I didn't know what it meant to love someone. I mean I loved Ethan but that was a completely different kind of love. How did you know if you loved someone?

With that thought I fell asleep, dreaming about my perfect boyfriend.

"Psst!", Nate leant over the table to tell me something. I took a quick look in the direction of our biology teacher before leaning towards him as well. "Are you coming to the ski trip?" I looked at him confused. "What ski trip?" My best friend frowned. "How have you not heard about it? Everyone is talking about it! Benn-""Excuse me gentlemen! Do you want to share your questions with the class, I'm sure someone can help you out." Nate looked incredibly flustered. Being caught by our teacher. I sighed. "I would love to actually. Can someone please explain the difference between mitosis and meiosis?" Not like I didn't know the answer myself, but someone had to save us from getting detention!

"So, what's it about this ski trip?", I asked Nate once we stood by my locker. "Oh right- Ouch!" He held his shoulder. "Fags!" The boy spat out who had run into my friend. I quickly grabbed Nate by his arm, seeing he was about to start a fight in the middle of the hallways. "He's not worth it! Some people are just assholes!" I tried to reassure him. Most students had taken my outing really good, just once in a while someone would think some homophobic slur would make the world better.

Nate turned around again although I could see he was fuming inside. "So, this ski trip..." I started again. "Okay. So Benn's parents allowed him to take a few friends to their cabin in the mountains they own. And he decided to ask me and you. He told me to tell you because he couldn't find you in the morning. It would be next weekend, the one before Christmas. You coming?"

I hesitated. I would love to. But I hadn't been skiing since I had been....eight? And more important: I didn't think Betty would agree to look after Ethan for two nights....

"Would it be just us three?" I questioned. Nate shook his head. "No, Jamie will come too. And Jeremy and Andy, you know the two boys who always hang out with Ryan? Oh, speaking from whom, he will come as well." My best friend looked at me suggestively. I may have never confirmed that the boy I was constantly talking about, was Ryan, but Nate just knew.

I sighed. "I will see. Tell Benn I'm going to tell him until Friday. See ya at practise!" With that I walked away to my advanced maths class.

"God, practise was INTENSE!", Sam, a boy from my team groaned. "I definitely need a warm bath tonight. See ya tomorrow guys!" One after one everyone left the parking lot until I was left alone, waiting for the bus. I had to go to Betty to pick Ethan up. I decided to call Ryan in the meantime. I hadn't had a chance to talk to him all day.

After the second ring he picked up. "Hi Liam!" I smiled to myself, hearing his voice. "Hey Ryan! I just wanted to check up on you. How are you? What about your parents?" I heard him sigh. "It's okay actually. They came to tell me to talk to them after soccer in the morning. I'm not really looking forward to it... But enough about me, what are you doing?" Typical Ryan, always distracting himself from his problems. Nevertheless I answered. "Nothing, I'm waiting for the bus to get Ethan." "Oh, can I come with you? I'm just leaving school... oh, I see you!"

I looked up and spotted Ryan sprinting towards me, just in time to get on the bus which pulled up in that moment. "I thought you said you had to talk to your parents?" I chuckled. Ryan brushed me off. "They can wait."
