Since Day One

Part 34. Flash backs

As we sat in the dorm with the other night blood novitiates, Luna and her brother sat with us.

We were the only group of friends out of everyone else, they decided not to make any strong bonds with anyone, they knew they'd have to kill them in the end, but it was too hard.

"Training sucked today, Titus yelled at me for revealing one move, just one." Lunas brother complained.

"That's because you suck." Luna teased him.

"Oh come on, cut him some slack, he can't help that he's not as good as us." I joked.

He rolled his eyes as he listened to my comment, "Even Lexa can beat me."

"What's that supposed to mean." Lexa defended.

I saw another girl look at us from her bed, we all shared the dorm so no one really had any privacy.

"You got a problem?" I asked the blonde girl.

"No, im just imagining what it'll be like to see you all refuse to kill each other in the conclave because of your feelings." The girl said politely. Fake, everyone hated her, she was always getting in everyone's head.

"Maybe, but I won't hesitate to hit you first." I answered.

"You Can try." The girl answered.

"Ok relax." Lunas brother told me as he spotted  Titus.

"Bela!" Titus called from the door.

Everyone's eyes fell on him as he called my name.

"Come with me, the commander wants to talk to you." Titus ordered.

"Yes seda." I responded as I walked with him.

I felt everyone's eyes on me as I walked out.

"You must keep your anger in control" Titus explained as he walked me through the hall.

As a 13 year old, he seemed so tall to me, I had to look up when I wanted to speak with him.

"I understand Seda, I apologize." I answered

Titus nodded as he opened the doors to the Throne room and revealed the commander sitting in her throne.

I liked her, she always defended me from Titus but the power she had intimidated me.

I walked inside the room with Titus right behind me.

"Heda." I said as I bowed before her.

"I've seen you train. You are very good, the best I've seen in fact." The commander began.

"Thank you." I said trying not to be disrespectful.

"But you've formed to many bonds, and to strong, from what I've seen, that's your only weakness." The commander added as she looked at me with her piercing blue eyes.

I stood in silence not knowing what to answer.

"Train with me." She said as she threw me a training sword.

"I thought we only did that once we turned 15." I asked.

"Yes, but I want to see how far you've come." The commander explained.

When she stood up and took her own fighting stick her brown her fell down her shoulders as she walked towards me.

I looked at Titus and he nodded in approval.

The commander aimed the stick to my head but managed to dodge it, I tried to hit her legs but she blocked out the stick with her own.

We looked at each other right before she flipped the stick causing it to fall out of my hands. She kicked me on the ground and prepared to hit me with the stick as I laid beneath her, but the last second I rolled from under the stick and managed to kick her legs and got her in the ground.
