17. Fire

A/N: I didn't go back to the carnival today because my dumbass lifted like fifty different kids onto that ride and I'm really feeling it now. And when I went earlier to get my money for yesterday, the guy was angry at me and now I'm sad. Overall the last couple of days haven't been that great, and it's raining at Cedar Point tomorrow so fuck me I guess.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck!" Taehyun yelled when he saw fire.

Fire.

Shit, that was a lot of fire.

"It's just my sister and I."

"I have a dog... her name's Juliet."

"Goddamnit!" Taehyun yelled, going around the back of the house since there were rescue vehicles in the front. To say he was afraid of fire was an understatement.

The first few hundred years of his life, he and a bunch of other vampires hurt innocent people, and there was a lot of fire.

That's why it bothered him.

But he jumped up to a second floor window nonetheless and broke it before jumping in.

"Hello?!" He called out, remembering this room to be Beomgyu's. He ran out, going to a bathroom where there was banging on the door. "Back up! I'm gonna kick it open!" He yelled when he felt that the doorknob was too hot. As soon as he kicked it open, the girl fell into his arms and he started slightly panicking when the walkway to Beomgyu's room was on fire. "Hold on to your dog, alright?"

"Okay," she said, watching him go down the hall.

"Here! We can use the stairs!" She started carefully walking over to him, but the floor collapsed under her and they fell through. "Ari!" He yelled, jumping down after her. "Here." He lifted her up, making sure that she was holding the dog before walking around the fire and running out.

"Over there!" Someone yelled, and paramedics came over with a stretcher to lift her onto. "What's her name?"

"Um... Choi Ari. I'm Beomgyu's friend," he told her and got into the ambulance with her.

"Can you tell him I'm here and take Juliet?" He nodded and took the dog.

"I'll tell him."

He got off and ran off into the woods before anyone could ask him any questions, making it back a little bit before the others. He gave the puppy water and chicken, calling to see if a veterinarian could stop by to make sure she was okay.

"Okay. Thank you," he said, hanging up before the others came in.

"Hey. Why is... my dog here?" Beomgyu asked, giggling a little bit and Taehyun's heart broke.

"Ari! Ari!" He nearly screamed when he saw her in a room, having to be held back by Taehyun.

"They're just making sure she's fine. I think she hurt her arm when she fell, but that's it."

Beomgyu tried to calm down, going to sit next to Taehyun on a bench and bouncing his leg over and over again.

"It'll be okay," Taehyun repeated, kissing Beomgyu's head as the boy was visibly panicking. "Why don't you try sleeping-"

"No. Stop trying to make me feel better. It's not working."

Taehyun internally sighed in frustration and pinched the bridge of his nose. "I'll go then if you want."

"Wait no. I don't wanna be here alone."

"Then will you stop being a jerk?"

"My sister's in there."

"Not to like try to one up you or anything, but I've lost everyone and I was never a jerk like you're being." Beomgyu looked down at his fingers and Taehyun gasped when his lip quivered. "Wait, don't cry. I'm sorry."

"You're an idiot Taehyun. I'm not being a jerk. I'm just upset. And yes, you are trying to one up me you idiot-"

"No I'm not."

"Nevermind. Just go."

"I'll see you at school on Monday," Taehyun said, standing up to leave.

Date: January 26th

Taehyun pet Juliet before leaving and just deciding to walk/run instead of drive. He liked thinking while he was walking. He obviously couldn't really think while driving, so this way was better.

He had already thought a lot about Beomgyu, but he couldn't help but still feel nervous. He assumed Beomgyu was still in the hospital with his sister, but where would they go now?

When he got to school, he stopped at his locker to just grab one of his books and it was slammed shut.

"Where is he you freak?" Soobin asked, Taehyun sighing when he saw every. single. werewolf behind him.

"He didn't tell you?" Soobin shook his head. "There was a fire at his house. He's at the hospital with his sister."

"Do you know what happened?"

Taehyun shook his head, although he had an idea of who did it, and walked away. He was sure the werewolves knew who it was too. This is one of the reasons Seonghwa's so mad about the whole situation.

He went to his first class, and then his second one which was World History. To his surprise, Beomgyu was actually there, and he went to go sit down next to him. "Hey," he said, soon realizing Beomgyu wasn't in the mood to talk, so he didn't talk to him for the rest of the class.

When he was walking out however, he felt Beomgyu grab his hand and followed the boy to wherever it is he wanted to go. Of course, it was the janitors closet, but Taehyun knew this was for a serious reason.

"What's up?" He asked, turning on the light while Beomgyu locked the door.

"This is like... really embarrassing. But can we live with you?" His voice was small, obviously nervous at the question, and Taehyun quickly nodded.

"Of course. It's nothing to be embarrassed about."

And I'm probably the reason it happened in the first place.

"I'll call my housemates, okay?" He asked, gently hugging Beomgyu who was looking down at his feet. "It'll be okay."

Beomgyu pulled away to look at him, nodding and smiling softly. "Thank you Taehyun."
