I still wondered how could she have seen me but I didn't question her.

"Did you know the girl who lived here?"

"Yeah she was my bestfriend..."

"Well I'm sorry, I read about the murder in the paper."

"Yeah, but you know what hurts more her killer was never found."

I felt tears forming in my eyes it hurt so much I always tried to stop the tears from falling it never worked.

Each tear had a mind of its own. Maya wiped the tears from my face I felt vulnerable crying in front of people that was something I never liked doing especially in front of a stranger.

"Do you want to come inside?"

I paused and thought about her suggestion, I swallowed

"Yes"

she grabbed my hand and led me through the front door.

We started going up the stairs when we reached the top I stopped and took it all in. Maya didn't say anything for awhile I think she understood what was going on.

She finally said something

"Are you sure that you want to be here?"

I nodded so she led me into the room she was calling her own now.

It was Jessica's room my stomach dropped to the floor when we walked in. I no longer felt Jess there it was no longer her room. It just made me realize that she was really gone forever.

When her room was still intact I always hoped that one day I would walk in and find her in it, but no she never was in it. Maya put her hand on my shoulder, I quickly shrugged it off without thinking.

"Wait, I'm sorry I didn't mean that its just that this was her room."

A look of pain and sorrow came across her face

"Oh, um I'll just find another room this house is filled with plenty of rooms that will probably remain empty"

she smirked

"What about your family?"

I asked confused she put her head down and sat on the bed

"My parents move me from place to place, and I'm an only child."

I actually didn't know what to say the only thing that managed to escape my mouth was

"Oh."

She got up and went to a little box to grab something, I saw a picture of a boy on her nightstand

"Is this your boyfriend?"

She let out a laugh

"Justin?"

He was my boyfriend back where I lived, but we broke up and I don't do the whole long distance thing".

When I turned around she was lighting up a blunt I was surprised.

"Do you want a hit?"

"No I'm good I don't smoke."

She shrugged "Fine suit yourself."

"I play sports sooo that's why."

She just smiled at me as she blew smoke into the air.

Everything was quiet in the room for quite sometime and I'm talking about an awkward ass silence. Just when I was about to talk so was she. We both laughed

"You go first" I said still laughing

"Do you have a boyfriend?" She asked curiously

"Yeah his name is Ben."

"Cool I'd like to meet Ben sometime Eva" she smirked

"Why?"

"Well I'd love to meet the guy who would be my competition"

she winked at me

I asked

"Competition? Competition for what?"

"Your heart silly."

"Wait no I'm sorry I don't like girls."

she laughed then got up and looked into my eyes. My goodness her eyes were even more beautiful up close I felt mesmerized

"It was a joke kid."

then she pushed a strand of my hair that had been dangling in my face for the longest behind my ear. I felt my cheeks turning red and my heart just started running a marathon.

I turned away and told her I had to leave. I ran down the stairs past the movers. When I got outside I put my hands on my knees and hunched over catching my breath. I was confused because for a second Maya reminded me of Jess too much and I couldn't handle that. When I turned around I saw her watching me through the window.
