I pulled into the drive way of my house. It had been a long drive home and it was already dark out. I sighed because I was so tired I couldn't wait to just jump into my bed.

I got of the car and closed the door behind me I walked over to the passenger side where Maya was sleeping. I unbuckled her seatbelt and lifted her out of the car. She started mumbling something but still she was fast asleep.

I threw her over my shoulder and closed the door man for such a small girl she was so heavy. I thought about waking her up and making her drag herself to the door but yeah that wouldn't be nice of me and knowing Maya she'd bitch about it forever.

So I decided to man up and just carry her. After a century of walking I made it to my front door I put the key in the door and unlocked it.

When I stepped in the house it had no life or existence to it. It didn't feel like home anymore it just felt like another place that had little meaning to me.

I saw the stairs ahead of me and there was no way I was carrying this girl up there so I layed her down on the couch instead. I walked into the kitchen everything was exactly the way I left it.

I slowly tip toed upstairs with a skillet I grabbed from the kitchen. When I made it to the top of the stairs I quickly peeped through the room where my parents once lived.

I didn't remove anything from in there I hadn't worked up enough courage to do so.

I checked in the closet then under the bed it was clear to me that no one could possibly be in here. I walked back out quietly closing the door shut. When I slowly backed up I felt another person behind me my intincts kicked in and I swung the skillet around hoping to knock this person out.

Luckily I missed and hit the wall because as I turned around I saw Maya standing there in shock.

"Are you okay?"

"Well thanks to your horrible swing yes I'm fine, surprised but fine"

I rolled my eyes at her little comment and walked past her heading back downstairs.

I could hear her following close behind

"So exactly what were you doing up there with a skillet in hand?"

"Well you know since I have to live every minute of my life in fear I was making sure no one was in this house waiting to kill me"

She didn't say anything she just stared deep into my eyes I could tell that she had nothing to say but she was still worried.

"Look I'm sorry, I'm just a little on edge about a lot after the walgreens thing I've been paranoid"

"See its okay to feel that way the person who killed your parents and left you for dead hasn't been arrested. So of course your a bit on edge, but just know I'm here for you no matter what"

I walked up to her and gave her a big hug

"Thank you, you're all I have left"

I felt a tear fall from my eye as I lifted my head to face her.

She instantly wiped the tear away and placed her lips onto my right cheek. This made me feel so much better just knowing that I still had one person in my life who I loved and trusted. I don't know what I'd do if I lost her because then everyone I've ever loved would have been taken away from me.

I pushed the thoughts out of my mind that's the last thing I needed to be thinking of right now. I just needed to relax and not worry about anything for just a little bit.

"I feel all sticky I need a shower"

"Uh me too but I need some clothes let me go to my house, shower then come back?"
