Unexpected

Chapter 28

We've been driving for an hour now Maya had fallen asleep 30 minutes ago. The gas tank was getting pretty low so I pulled into the nearest gas station. I got out of the car and went to go pay for the gas.

Next thing I know Maya walks in like a zombie. I swear she scooped up anything thing that was a food product or beverage threw them on the counter and walked out.

The clerk looked at me like I was crazy

"We're on a road trip"

he shook his head and started ringing the stuff up. I was just looking around thats when my eyes landed on some water guns

"Hey can I get two water guns also"

"No problem"

he grabbed them and threw them in the bag

"No charge"

"Thank you sir"

I handed him a 50

"Hey that's more than I need"

I smiled

"Keep the change."

I grabbed the bag and headed to the car

"Can you please put the gas in the tank I have to use the bathroom"

Maya didn't say anything she just got out and leaned on the car and started pumping the gas.

I ran to the bathroom and quickly filled the water guns up with water. I slipped mine into my pocket and held hers behind my back.

I snuck up behind her

"Say my name or get soaked"

she quickly turned around and I squirted her. I laughed as she wiped the water from her face

"Here is your weapon ma'am use it wisely"

We had a water fight right here in the gas station. It was the most fun I've had since my run in with the devil's advocates I was enjoying myself.

"Okay, okay I surrender look I'm putting the gun on the ground don't shoot."

Maya watched me carefully as I put the gun down she smiled and ran over to me. I was expecting a hug but instead I got water in my face.

"Okay I deserve that"

I wiped the water from my face and pulled her closer to me.

"So what's next dare devil?"

"Well lets just keep driving until the sunsets"

"Okay your wish is my command"

I kissed her on the forehead then grabbed her hand. I walked her over to the passenger side I closed the door then walked over to my side.

It was nice just driving having the wind blowing through my hair. Its like in this moment all my problems faded away.

I turned to Maya

"Why don't we just sleep in a hotel tonight?"

"Hmm what happened to 'Only for today' huh?"

I gave her a half smile and just kept looking ahead.

I was getting hungry so I pulled into this diner. We both got of the car I sounded the alarm and held the door open for Maya.

When we walked in there was barely anyone in there. Just a few people drinking coffee and having small talk I liked it.

We decided to sit in one of the empty booths. I picked up the menu and looked at what they had to eat. A waitress came over with her notepad and pencil in hand she looked liked she was about our age.
