| CHAPTER SIXTEEN |

you were trembling.
incoherent words asking,
demanding, for his hands
to speak to your thighs.your core was
begging for his kiss
until his lips obeyed
and made it rain.❦
"I TOLD YOU TO GO BACK AND REST."
you threw another knife at the target you'd drawn on the tree bark before turning around to look at an angry half demon.
his arms were crossed over his bare chest, his biceps bulging, showing off the flexed muscles. your eyes dragged over the swirling patterns of black ink that danced from his arms all the way over his chest.
"like what you see?" he asked with a smug look.
gods, you did. you took everything in you not to close the gap and take your nails down his chiseled chest.
yet you kept his gaze for a few seconds, feigning uninterestedness before giving him another once over and shrugging casually "meh. seen better." and turned your back to the scowling boy, a triumphant smile stretching your lips.
you were about to throw another knife when he caught your wrist and turned you back towards him so forcefully it knocked the knife out of your hand "i told you to go rest."
he'd spent two hours after setting camp teaching you how to use your throwing knives with deadly accuracy. but you'd spent another two practicing to ensure the muscle memory stuck.
you held your chin high in defiance "i'm not tired."
his eyes darkened and venom dripped from every word when he said "and that better be the last time you turn your back on me before answering a question."
now you were the one drawing your brows together "i'll do whatever i want to do."
you tugged your wrist out of his grip and once again, turned your back on him and walked towards the tree to retrieve your knives.
but before you could reach for any of them, he pressed his heavier figure into your back until your chest crashed into the tree bark with a thud, the knives only a few inches above your head.
you grunted from the pressure of his weight against your back and he eased it a bit in response. but not enough for you to wriggle out of his caging hold.
