Nine- First Kiss

Pan followed Gale through the crowd with a frown. Loud music played from speakers overhead, making Pan's ears ring slightly. She had agreed to come with Gale and Jin to Brai and Koun's New Years party, but she only had plans to stay until ten. Trunks would be coming over before midnight, and the thought made Pan's stomach flutter.

The party was full of people Pan recognized from school, but she didn't know many of them. Most were from the crowd that Brai and Koun associated with, so Pan kept her distance. She swallowed hard as she passed by a group of guys that were lining up some powdery substance on a table, and she passed them quickly.

Pan's eyes furrowed as she realized Gale was gone. They must have gotten separated somewhere, and she honestly wasn't sure where to look for her.

Someone grabbed her arm. "Hey-"

Pan turned around, ready to punch whoever it was that grabbed her, but she stopped when she saw Yuri. His eyes widened in surprise before he chuckled and let go of her, holding his hands up.

"Sorry," Pan mumbled as her cheeks grew pink.

"Huh?" Yuri's brows furrowed together. He obviously couldn't hear her over the loud music, and he grabbed her arm again before pulling off to the side where it was a lot quieter.

"I said sorry," Pan sighed, happy to be away from the crowd and music.

Yuri chuckled. "It's alright. I'm surprised to see you here. I thought you didn't like this kind of thing?"

"I don't," Pan frowned. "Gale asked me to come for a little while, though."

Yuri nodded his head slowly. "Yeah, I can't stay all night, either." He checked, just watched, and sighed, "actually, I need to be leaving. I got to work soon."

"On New Years?" Pan raised an eyebrow.

"Come on, Pan," he grinned. "You know the saying- ain't no rest for the wicked." He glanced around quickly before he stepped closer to her. "This is because I won't get to see you at midnight." He leaned down quickly and kissed her cheek.

Pan's eyes widened in shock and surprise. Her stomach flipped anxiously as a cold sweat started to grow on her back. She didn't feel giddy or happy. She felt uncomfortable.

"Yuri-" she began.

"I got to go," he said as he frowned at his watch. "Happy New Years, Pan!" He grinned at her before he took off through the crowd.

Pan watched him go with a small frown. She didn't know what Yuri thought was happening between them, but she knew she couldn't let it fester. If he liked her more than a friend, then she didn't want to give him any false hope. She liked him, but only as a friend. There was only one guy she had her heart set on and-

Something cold and wet ran down Pan's shirt, and she gasped and turned around to see Brai standing behind her with her cup overturned. Koun was standing right behind her with a smirk.

"You little bitch," Brai snarled. Her hair had been dyed a bright pink for the New Year, and her brown eyes glared at Pan.

"Excuse you?" Pan raised an eyebrow. She knew Brai had never liked her, but to call her such a name seemed extreme.

"I saw you flirting with Yuri!" Brai seethed.

Pan narrowed her eyes. She had heard from Gale that Yuri and Brai has a thing going on. According to Yuri, it was nothing. He repeatedly said that he didn't like Brai like that, but obviously, she wanted him.
