Five- A New Season

Pan let out a groan as she fell onto her bed. North City Academy was no joke. She had been living in North City for six months now, and she still wasn't quite used to the quick flow of the Academy. Of course, Gohan was always available to help, and Trunks was just a call away.

Pan's phone buzzed, and she lifted her head to peek at it. It was a text from Yuri, and she reached over to look at it.

Yuri: Garden?

Pan smiled and texted back quickly.

I'll be there in a few!

She stood up with a stretch and placed her phone in her back pocket before putting on a hoodie and heading towards the door. Gohan wasn't home yet, so she made sure to have her key.

The garden had become a favorite spot for Pan and Yuri to meet. She had only known him for half a year, but she felt like she had known him longer. He was a great friend and a great listener. Pan had talked to him for hours and hours, and he had just sat there, listening, and not interrupting.

Since the garden was just just a few levels below her, Pan took the stairs. She opened the door to the garden and smiled when she spotted Yuri. He grinned at her and waved her over to where a few more people were sitting. Pan tried not to frown as she walked over towards the group.

Gale and Jin were sitting on a bench, and Pan smiled at them. They were just a few years older than Pan, and they lived in the building as well. Both of them had always been nice to Pan, so she enjoyed hanging out with them. She glanced at the other two, Brai and Koun. They were cousins who lived nearby, and Pan didn't care for them. They were around Yuri's age, and she didn't understand why he hung out with them.

"Hey, Pan!" Gale waved her over to the bench. "Have you been studying for the exams?"

Pan smiled and took a seat beside her. "Yeah," she sighed heavily. "Gohan's been helping me a lot, but I still feel like my brain is going to turn into mush."

"Me too!" Gale nodded. "At least you have your brother to help you."

"Hey, I help you," Jin said from Gale's other side with a pout.

"Yeah, but you're just as dumb as I am," Gale sighed.

"Rude," Jin pouted.

Pan laughed as she watched them banter with each other. They had known each other the longest out of everyone there, and Pan had a feeling that they both had feelings for each other.

A strong scent passed by, and Pan scrunched up her nose as she turned her head. Koun was leaning against the rail as he smoked a cigarette.

"You're not supposed to smoke out here," Pan told him. Not to mention, he was underage still.

Koun just smirked and took a drag from the cigarette before handing it to Brai for her to do the same.

"You two," Gale muttered. "It stinks. Where did you even get them from?"

"My old man leaves them lying around everywhere. He never notices when a pack goes missing. Want one?" He held out a cigarette to Pan.

She shook her head quickly and leaned against the bench. "Those are disgusting."

"Oh come on, you little-"

"Hey, that's enough," Yuri said as he walked over to Pan and looked at Koun over his shoulder. "She's right, and you need to put that out. It's not good for the garden plants."

Koun narrowed his eyes at Yuri as he put out his cigarette. Yuri seemed to be the only person Koun ever listened to, and it amazed Pan how he could get such a hateful and obnoxious person to listen.
