I sniffle, my head has been throbbing all day with an inexplicable pain. I can't remember the last time I was sick, but I can say that I don't like being sick at all.Especially having a headache, ugh.
It feels like someone is constantly smacking my head with a sledgehammer and someone is pinching my nose so I can't breathe. Thank God I don't have a fever, though, because that would be a jackpot, I guess.
I drag my feet across the floor as I walk through the house while scratching my belly with my hand. I let out the loudest yawn and look around the living room, the silence consuming me. It's already afternoon, but I've spent all day sleeping to avoid enduring the headache awake.
This morning I was fine, but as the hours passed, new complaints arose. I didn't want to disturb Irina because today is one of the last days before her last exam and I don't want her to be worried about me or anything.
I think winter didn't do me quite well, although I'm actually a person who doesn't get sick easily. Since we have to take turns keeping guard at the door and I didn't take into consideration that being sweaty outside isn't best for hours, I must have gotten sick.
Since there is no one in the living room and I have become bored in Irina's room - and because the couch is so nice and big and comfortable - I throw myself on the soft surface, leaning my back against it and spreading my legs. I close my eyes. I don't know how much time passes, but I also have my peace here because the others are either outside or in the garden and the maids are somewhere.
"Jungkook?" a voice rings out after a while, so sweet and gentle.
I crack open an eye and sure enough, Irina is walking towards me with a worried look on her face. She has her glasses on again, but she takes them off and sets them on the coffee table in the middle before sitting down next to me.
"Are you okay?" she asks as she brings a hand to my forehead.
She probably must have noticed from my lazy and broken state that I'm a little groggy, but I quickly sit up straight so she won't notice. I smile at her and take her hand off my forehead before placing a kiss on her knuckles.
"I'm fine, what do you mean?" I cover up, playing the tough guy.
"You look tired and um well like you got hit by a truck." she laughs softly.
I wave her off. "Nah. Look, I'm fine."
I jump to my feet and start shaking out my arms and legs, trying to cover my tired form. Irina looks at me like I'm crazy, her eyebrows raised. But I can't convince her as I suddenly have a coughing fit and Irina then rushes to me.
"Well, I didn't have that before," I admit, covering my mouth with my hand.
I'm sure I still looked healthy in the morning because Irina didn't notice anything and not even I myself felt like shit like I do now. It must have developed somehow over the last few hours.
"I told you to put on a thick jacket when you go out!" she scolds as she helps me take a seat on the couch again. "You got sick."
"I'm fine, angel," I say, perhaps a little less convincingly, but at least I can try. "It's just a little headache and a bit of a cough. It'll go away soon."
"No. We need to see a doctor," she says and starts tugging at my hand, but I try to use the last strength in my body, and surprisingly it's enough to pull Irina back onto the couch next to me instead.
