Chapter 65- Another Death to Mourn

Regan's POV

I dabbed the tears from my cheek after saying goodbye to Lindsey. I took a small amount of comfort knowing she'd be with Moody but I don't trust that other guy. He seems shady. But there is nothing I can do now apart from help Ginny and Molly set up the Burrow for everyone's return. If they return.

I carried bag after bag up the stairs , sorting where people would be staying. Hermione must have brought the entire library with her from Hogwarts. Her stuff was so heavy. Ginny went down to help her mother in the kitchen while I took the last of mine and Lindsey's bags up. I opened my backpack and selected Taehyung's parchment. Since he's become a Death Eater I've made it a habit of looking at it every few hours incase of news. Previously there had been simple messages saying he and Draco were fine and I did the same about Lindsey and I.

I pulled out the parchment and there was a paragraph of writing which wasn't good.

'Voldermort knows they are moving Harry tonight. Death Eaters are on the way. Someone can't be trusted at your end but I don't know who. Please get yourself and Lindsey out of there. The Death Eaters have been instructed to kill everyone but Harry.'

My heart was beating out my chest, I ran as fast as I could down the stairs. Slipping every few steps in my heist, I ran to the kitchen where Molly was cleaning dishes.

"He knows that Harry's getting moved tonight! Death Eaters will ambush them! What do we do? We have to warn them." I frantically spoke and Molly dropped the dish she was cleaning.

"What Regan, how do you know this?" Confused by my outburst.

"My friend's father is a Death Eater, he's on our side and warns me when they are plotting something. We have to tell them before it's too late." Panicked ,Molly pulled me into a hug

"I'm afraid all we can do is wait for them to return. They are prepared for an attack. They have an escape plan. Your friend is very brave helping us, do they know the risks?" Molly asked but I couldn't tell her that the person I was talking to was an actual Death Eater. I simply nodded and she was right. All we can do is wait and hope everyone returns home safely.

"Someone who knew Harry was being moved told them. I don't know who. I didn't even know till this morning why we were here." Molly thought for a moment but didn't have an answer. She told me to keep myself busy while we waited so I wouldn't be worrying the whole time. I felt a stabbing pain in my heart knowing that Lindsey had taken my place, if anything happens to her I'll never be able to forgive myself.

Lindsey's POV

After we had apperated to where Harry was situated we knew we needed to act quickly. Hagrid knocked on the door to which Harry opened the door too. Ron was the first one to give him a hug followed by Hermione then me. We all walked into the sitting room, waiting for the plan to get started. The plan was explained to Harry before it was announced that we would be taking Polyjuice Potion to look like him, he disagreed with this just like we knew he would. Those that are changing into Harry stood in line taking one gulp of potion and waited for the effects to take place. I was last to drink so I had already seen the other slowly transform and the taste of it was disgusting.

It didn't take long for us all to look like Harry, the only issue was our clothing so we changed into clothes identical to those Harry was wearing. We moved quickly and before long we were on the move into the night. Each pair separated off in different directions as I stayed close with Moody. We were off the front leading the way when there was lightning ahead of us, then we started getting attacked by Death eaters, how did they know where we were? I do hope the others will be ok. I couldn't really think about that as I started sending curses their way. I dodged all those that were headed my direction. I prayed to myself I'd make it back ok. Just as I said that I noticed that Mundungus had Disappeared but that quickly left my mind when I saw MadEye Moody getting zapped in the face that was casted by you know who himself. It killed him instantly and I slowly watched him fall to the ground. I wanted to follow him and find him but I knew the safest thing for me to do is get myself to the Burrow and away from all this.

Regan's POV

The anxious wait felt like it would never end. I was listening intently waiting for the others to arrive back.

Then Molly, Ginny and I rushed outside at the sound of someone landing. It was Harry and Hagrid. They were soaking wet from landing in the pond.

"Are you alright?" I asked but Harry was too panicked to hear me,

"Is no one else back ?" He asked

"They were on us right from the start Molly. We didn't stand a chance." Hagrid's words made my heart sink, the probability of everyone making it back alive was slim. "The Death Eaters were waiting for us, it was an ambush."

We then heard professor Lupin yell out for help. He was carrying George and blood was running down his neck. "Quick into the house!"

Molly told me to stay outside in case the others needed help. I could hear frantic voices from inside. I hope George isn't as bad as he looks.

Lupin rushed out at the sound of something landing. He aimed his wand at Kingsley. They asked each other questions to make sure they weren't imposters. Harry then informed us that Hedwig gave him away and got killed protecting him. Hermione, Bill and Fleur then arrived. Closely followed by Ron and Tonks. Hermione ran over and hugged Ron, Tonks said "he was brilliant out there and she wouldn't be alive if it weren't for him." Relieved as everyone seemed to be turning up okay, I waited for Lindsey. Fred and his father arrived okay but rushed in to see how George was doing.

The others followed in to check on George but as the minutes ticked by I got more and more upset. Where is she? No one mentioned seeing her or Madeye. They can't still be out there. They couldn't be too far behind.

Then I heard someone land hard in the overgrown grass. To my relief Lindsey limped out. I rushed over to her and helped her into the house. When the adrenaline stopped following she spoke. "Madeye's dead." The room was silent.

I helped Lindsey to the sofa opposite George. She had a few cuts and scrapes thankfully nothing serious. "Taehyung tried to warn us." I said quietly so only she could hear. "I don't know who could have betrayed us. Taehyung's not sure either." Lindsey simply nodded and we headed up to our room.

Reaching into my backpack for the parchment I saw Taehyung had asked if we were okay. I grabbed a pencil and wrote 'we are okay. I was at the safe house, Lindsey was on the mission. Just a few scratches and bruises but she will be fine. But Madeye is dead.' It hurts to write it down but I know we won't let him die in vain.

Lindsey's POV

The night was over and I was glad it was. I knew the task was dangerous but I never expected to witness a death right in front of my eyes or see someone lose an ear. That night I tried to sleep but it was a cycle of either pain or nightmares, more seeing Madeye falling out the sky dead. Beauty sleep won't be a thing for me tonight, I guess.
