Chapter 9-Howler

First few days of classes went by pretty smoothly, just mainly getting used to each teacher and what we will be learning this year, settling in basically. We was sitting having breakfast, it happens to be post day today I wonder if I'll get a letter from my parents. The great hall was slowly filling up with owls, I spotted Star, my Snowy Owl, with what seems to be quite a big parcel in her claws, I wonder what it is and who it could be from. The Brown paper wrapped gift was dropped infront of me and kind of looks like a broom but could honestly be anything. I know seem to have the attention of everyone sitting round me on the table, waiting for me to open the gift. I rip of the paper to reveal the Nimbus 2001, I was completely shocked, I don't know anyone who has the kind of money to buy this for me, do I? Luckily enough there is a note, I open the note and it says

Puds

This gift is from your mother and I we both think that you deserved a treat and I know how much you'd love to own a Nimbus so this is for you to use while playing Quiddich. Now before you write back and have a go at us for buying you such an expensive gift or how did we find the money, I got given a bonus at work. Please take care of this and yourself on it.

We love you very much and best of luck this year and good luck on your first game this season.

My Mum and Dad don't have the highest paying jobs, not like certain others but they do spoil me when they can and I love them for it.I am beyong excited to give my new broom a wizz around the pitch in practice later. I was brought out my thoughts when Ron opened his letter from Mrs Weasleys, Looks like he has a Howler, they can be brutal sometimes. The letter floats in the air and in the words and voice of Mrs Weasley it says:

"RONALD WEASLEY! HOW DARE YOU STEAL THAT CAR! I AM ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED! YOUR FATHER'S NOW FACING AN INQUIRY AT WORK AND IT'S ENTIRELY YOUR FAULT! IF YOU PUT ANOTHER TOE OUT OF LINE WE'LL BRING YOU STRAIGHT HOME! — Oh, and Ginny dear, congratulations on making Gryffindor. Your father and I are so proud."

Ron looks terrified but everyone else seeme pretty amused by this, I especially love the bit at the end and the contrast in yelling and proudness. Ginny is mortified by this but soon laughs along with us all. Spent the rest of breakfast talking about my new broom and Rons Howler. We got straight into all our lessons like nothing had changed and today was like no other except for the fact I did have Quidditch practice tonight so that may of been all tha was on my mind throughout all my lessons until we got to Professor Lockharts class and if its anything like his book signing this was going to be interesting. We was all sitting at our desks, I was next to Regan of course, when Lockhart made an appearance out of a door in the room making a dramatic entrance of course. "let me introduce you you new DADA teacher, me Gildory Lockhart," he babbled on about his achievments he has sustained over the years. I again won't bore you with what else he says about himself in this lesson don't you worry,I will say that the class from this point on get a whole lot more enjoyable, he was trying to help up be able to defend oursleves against the worse creatures and spells out there but he presents us with some Cornish Pixies which look harmless. He opened the cage and they went flying out straight to causing havoc in the classroom, they take all the books and equipment around the class, 2 pixies even manage to pull Neville up to the light fitting to leave him dangling, the class slowly starts to filter out in panic and what a shock us 5 was left to clean up the mess as the great Gildory Lockhart cuts out and hides away in his office. It took us most of the lesson to round up the pixies to place them back in the cage, it didn't come without trouble, once they had all been locked back in the cage we worked on getting Neville down from the light, which was defiantly a challenge, we got there in the end. Class had ended and soon me and Harry was heading to the first Quidditch practice of the year. I'm obssessed with my Nimbus 2001, i'm going to be so much faster and stronger now as a keeper. We had changed into our gear grabbed our broomsticks and was making our way to the pitch to practice, I was near the front, Oliver doing his normal captain role, " I spent the summer devising a whole new quidditch plan, we are going to train earlier, harder and longer" When he stopped talking I had noticed that he was looking to the court looking at the Slytherin team lead by Marucs Flint, I hate that guy, why was they heading to the pitch when we had the time slot booked, we walked up to them, with Oliver questioning where they was going. He handed Wood a note from Professor Snape giving them permission practice today instead of us, Ron,Hermione and Regan had joined the party at this point, I didn't pay much attention as I don't feel like it's my place to join in, not right now anyway. I soon payed attention when there was a mention of a new seeker. It was of course none other than Draco Malfoy. no doubt payed he way into the team or should I say Father payed his way in. He looked so smug I just wanted to wipe that smile of his face and wasn't far away from doing so, " Malfoy?" Harry questioned, "yeah that's right, that's not all thats new this year." of course he showed of his new Nimbus 2001, "those are the new Nimbus 2001, just like what Lindsey has,where did you get them from?" Ron asked, Flint replied " They were a gift from Draco's father" Malfoy followed up by saying, " you see Weasley, unlike some my father can afford the best" to which I just snickered to, Malfoy and the Slytherin team snapped there heads to me and Draco had something to say about this "finding something funny I see Udall" I laughed again and said " yeah I do actually, I'm finding it funny that your dad doesn't actually think you have the talent or skill to join the team yourself so he had to buy your way into the team." The Gryffindor team along with Ron,Hermione and Regan all laughed at my comment, Hermione backed me up and said " I agree Gryffindors got into the team on pure talent not bank account". Malfoy seemed stunned for a while until he said back "no one aksed for you opinion you filthy Mudblood". A few people gasped, I knew exactly what a mudblood was, I went to take a step toward Malfoy and swing at him but was stopped not only by Fred Weasley but by Ron saying and pulling his wand out "you'll pay for that EAT SLUGS" His wand was very broken so the spell backfired and made him eat slugs instead, he fell over retching and throwing up giant slimey slugs, GROSS, The Slyherin team laughing behind us, we picked Ron up off the floor after Colin had taken a picture, we needed to take him to Hagrid he'll know exactly what to do. The whole way there he was throwing up slugs, Hagrid even gave him a bucket to catch them in. Hagrid asked us who it was exactly Ron was trying to curse, " Malfoy, he called Hermione, I don't actually know we he called her?" Harry said, I let Hermione take this one even though I knew what a mudblood was, She stood up and walked away, looking out the window, " he called me a mudblood" Hagrid looked beyond shocked "he did not??" Harry asked " what's a mudblood??" Hermione turned around and explained "it means dirty blood, mudblood is a really foul name for someone muggle born,someone with non magic parents,someone like me, it's not one should hear in a civilised conversation." she finished looking really upset, so I stood up and gave her a massive hug. We returned to classes for the rest of the day when nighttime fell, Harry had been serving detention with Professor Lockhart and had missed dinner so we went looking for him after dinner when we found him in the hall way looking rather confused we called his name when he asked if we could hear it but none of us could hear anything other than our footsteps.He went on to claim that he could hear a voice but again there were no voices other than our own. He continued to look around until he stopped looking behind us, he starts running and of course we start following when we reach a corridor that had a small layer of water on the floor,we stopped halfway down the corridor seeing a bunch of Spiders climbing the wall "strange i've never seen spiders act like that before"Harry said, followed by Ron saying that he doesn't like spiders, to which Hermione,Regan and Myself all rolled our eyes at. We looked at the floor where we saw what looked like red writting in so we look up at the wall where it says "THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS HAS BEEN OPENED ENEMIES OF THE HEIR ...BEWARE" Hermione read out. "Not to concern anyone but does that look like blood to anyone else or just me?" Regan asks. We stood there studying the wall when Harry says "oh No" we look in the direction to where he was looking to see Mrs Norris hanging by her tail frozen and stiff, at this point other student had started to join us down the corridor, obviously causing comotion, Mr Filtch came pushing through the crowds wondering why there was crowds in the corridors, he started to ask why we was standing there then he noticed Mrs Norris hanging behind us." you murdered my cat??" he claimed to Harry,of course we all deny this when he grabs Harry by the robes threating him, thankfully he was stopped by Professor Dumbledore. As soon as he arrvied he dissmissed everyone to thier dorms exept us 5 as always. Once the crowd started dispanding Professor Dumbledore told Mr Filch "she's not dead Argus she has been Petrified, but how she has, I don't know." Again Mr Filch accuses Harry claiming he was the one write on the wall.Professor Snape butted in after Harry protested his innocence saying "Perhaps Potter and his friends are simply in the wrong place at the wrong time" We all looked at each other confused, "however the circumstances are suspicious,I for one don't recall seeing Potter at dinner." Professor Lockhart jumped in "I'm afraid that's my doing, see Harry was helping me anwser my fan mail" Hermione added, "that's why we went looking for him Professor,we just found him when he said" she stopped herself "yes Miss Granger?" Professor Snape asked "When I said I wasn't hungry, we were heading back to the common room when we found Mrs Norris."Snape turns around to face Professor Dumbledore, "innocent until proven guilty Severus" Mr Filch claimed he wanted some punishment for the harm of Mrs Norris. Professor Dumbledore comforted him saying they will be abke to cure her, using mandrake as part of the cure. We was escorted back to our dorms to settle in for the night ......
