"Yikes!" I hear (Y/n) squeak as she dodges a swing from one of the many sparring robots. My ex-archenemy, and also wife, (Y/n), and I are sparring in our home. We specifically had the basement turned into a full fighting arena. We even have robots that spar with us. They're only there to give us a challenge if we don't feel like sparring with each other.

Another comes at me and I easily dodge it's swings before giving it a hard kick to the head. The robot sparks before falling to the ground. I look back over at my wife and see her roundhouse kicking one of the robots. She looks so hot whenever she's fighting like that. She stops and wipes sweat from her forehead. It's quiet except for our heavy breathing. Until the alarm started blaring and hidden lights start flashing red.

"Great," I grumble. "What's the problem now?"

"Michelle, turn on the monitor," (Y/n) calls to the AI running through the entire house.

When Michelle turned on the big monitor in the basement, both of us gasp. The newest supervillain, Hyper, was easily becoming the most prolific villain Houston has ever seen.

There was a prophecy bouncing around that there were five villains who had to die before Houston could live in peace. Hyper was one and he planned to kill the remaining four so no one could ever stop him and he alone could dominate Houston under an iron fist. In the live footage playing, Hyper was standing over the bloody and broken body of the third villain he's killed.

Edward Webber was a retired supervillain known as Wild Card. Webber may have been a villain, but he also worked as an elementary school teacher for first graders. All the kids loved him. Even high schoolers would often ask him to help them with their homework.

I glance over at (Y/n) and her jaw is set. I can tell by the rage shining in her eyes that she's furious. Webber wasn't her teacher, but she told me she would often help him after class with cleaning up the room. Back on the screen, Hyper is taunting the cameras.

"You can't stop me anymore, (Y/n) (L/n)! That's right! I know who you are! Make this easier on yourself and give up now! Stop protecting my final obstacle to power! As for you, number five, surrender to me because there's no hiding! I will find you!"

The screen turns black and sinks back into the wall. I glare at the wall where the monitor is. I'm the fifth villain, and Hyper wants me dead. Yes, I've been retired since dating (Y/n), but the prophecy still applies to me, much like it applied to Edward Webber.

"He's going down." I turn to (Y/n) and her irises are already radiating (f/c), the color of her magic.

"Baby, maybe you shouldn't get involved with this. It's obviously between Hyper and whoever the fifth villain is. It could be anyone then." I don't want her to go. If Hyper gets his hands on her, I will lose it trying to get her back. I would even let Hyper kill me so (Y/n) could be free.

"He said I was protecting the fifth villain. How? Who could that even be?"

I was hoping she wouldn't hear that part and just focus on the part where Hyper wants her to surrender.

"You know what, Baby, why don't I go with you?"

"I'm not gonna let you do that, Gabe. Besides, this is between Hyper and me."

Before I can say anything to stop her again, she's already gone,.running to grab her super suit. I can't let her go alone. I have to go with her. I gave up on my villain persona years ago. Now I have to go back to it. I clench my fists and see pale blue magic shine before ice starts creeping on the walls.

I've gotta save her.

(Y/n) took the one car we own, so I have to run. From the live feed from the news on my phone, Hyper is at the Wells Fargo Plaza. I run up to the building and see (Y/n) dodging attacks from Hyper. From below, I see her get smacked down and out of sight.
