It's a beautiful day in Texas today. And what am I doing? Sitting in my room, binge watching YouTube videos of lots of different creators. At least, that's how my day is going before my best friend (F/n) runs into the room.
"(Y/n)! Let's go get coffee!"
"Ah! How did you get in here?!" I screech back, frantically grabbing at the blankets on my bed even though I'm fully clothed.
"You gave me a key, remember?"
She dangles her key chain in front of my face and I see the key to my place. Why did I ever give her a key?
"I regret ever giving you that key."
"Well, you did," she says, turning and walking out the door. "Come on!"
"Ugh!" I groan as I pull the blankets over my head.
"Let's go!" (F/n) says while walking back into my room.
"No! Can't I just be antisocial today?"
"Nope. I'm making you get out of bed today," she says while smiling.
"If you love me let me sleep."
"If you love me let me get coffee."
"You can get coffee by yourself."
"Please?" she asks, giving me her big puppy dog eyes.
"Oh no. Not those puppy dog eyes again."
"PLEASE?"
"FINE!" I yell, throwing off my blankets and climbing out of bed. "Now get out so I can get dressed."
She smiles and walks out, clearly happy that I gave in to her.
I throw on a pair of jeans and a random t-shirt that I grab from my drawer. Today I had nothing planned and was looking forward to not doing anything. Now I actually have to be social.
"Ready," I say, walking out of my room to find (F/n) laying over the sides of a chair.
"Took you long enough," she says while swinging her legs from over the arm of one of my chairs.
"Well I wasn't planning on going out today so I didn't have an outfit in mind."
"Well, you still look good. Let's go!" she yells. (F/n) grabs my arm and drags me out to her car. I wriggle my arm out of her grip and climb into the passenger seat. We soon get underway, driving around Houston, the radio blasting our favorite music while we're singing at the top of our lungs.
"Finally we're here."
"I thought you said you didn't want to do anything today." (F/n) gives me a devilish look.
"Hey. You literally dragged me out of my house. You got me excited for coffee and there's no going back now."
We walk into the coffee shop and order our drinks. We sit and talk for awhile, catching up even though we just talked yesterday. What is it about best friends who seem to have so much to say to each other after having talked to them a day ago, or merely a few hours ago? A special bond holds their souls together that no one can see, but they can sense its presence. Maybe the fact of knowing that you always have someone's back no matter how rough things get is enough to keep some people close.
"So, find any guys that you like?"
I blush at her statement. "I mean, sure I've seen some cute guys, but I don't talk to them."
"Why not? All you have to do is talk with them."
"Yeah, but I'm shy and socially awkward. I'm probably gonna trip up and mess up everything."
