Walking.
Nothing but walking.
In a straight long line. I felt like I had sung the meadow song in my head about a hundred times and I was going borderline crazy.
The tremor in my hands still alight but hidden in the depths of my coat pockets. Still, I was too embarrassed to have Draco look at them.
Since his teasing would be continuous, they had developed into a severe insecurity. I was never happy with it and it did shy me away from things. But he had almost made it worse.
Now I hated the sight of my hands. Loathed them. Regardless of it or not.
We have been walking for a good eight hours and only stopped for two toilet breaks before continuing to work.
To say that my feet may have fallen off would be an understatement, but to admit that's how bad they hurt, would be an accurate reading.
I hadn't spoken a word to Draco and he did the same. We trekked in silence. A simple buzz of anticipation as we checked our surroundings every couple of metres to check we weren't being followed.
Thankfully, our journey would consist of just forests upon forests. Some plains where there were farmlands or roads but we kept our distances from any muggle areas and stuck to bark and grass.
It was indescreet torture. Borderline abuse. Well Draco was pretty abusive anyway, certainly toxic and easily dislikeable.
But there were things I couldn't fault him for.
Therefore, I kept my mouth shut. Most of the time.
'Malfoy my feet hurt, when are we stopping?' I whined, the heat from my breath spreading across the fabric of the scarf that hid my face.
The sun had slowly started to settle, bright ambers bursting in streaks across the sky, dimmed the view a little. Shades of rouge and magenta's beamed against the fluffy clouds, only accentuating the beautiful sundown even more.
'You make my head hurt but you've not heard me complain about it once so far. So shut up.' Draco grumbled bitterly.
It was like talking to a brick wall with him. Not just with the blunt answers, but the cold blank stares he'd give when I'd ask a question from time to time.
His cloak swallowed him as its span spread against his fast pace. I rolled my eyes at his reply, 'Well when are we stopping?'
'Soon. Now be quiet or I'll make us walk longer.' Draco said, taking interest in the tall trees around us. As if to see whether he recognised the area.
He stretched his neck around to get a more precise view of our surroundings.
'Don't tell me your feet aren't hurting either..' I tried to make a conversation but as I barely finished my sentence, his posture turned and darted straight at my chest.
Silver swirls of his combsted mask glaring back at me, despite the fact that I couldn't see his eyes, I knew they were knives and bullets.
'Merlin you are infuriating. How did they tolerate you?' He stood tall, intimidatingly craned his neck like the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
His dominant aura flew over me and invaded my safezone. Talking to him was a battle. Much harder than anything I'd ever set my mind to.
'Who?'
