TW: Death, violence and heartbreak. Viewer discretion is advised.
- BELLE -
I disdain all glittering light.
The following morning, we do not open our curtains, for we have every right to suspect eavesdroppers no matter the isolation nor camouflage the cabin is protected with.
Today, a plan ought to be discussed on the first countermoves we should interpret and suspect from Voldemort. With final words from Severus, a significant step forward would be made.
Draco and I hadn't spoken a word to one another, both aware of the pressure this meeting would have. For the Order was a broken vase. Mutualities and feelings were shattered, like glass. There was at least one person hurt. If not physically, then emotionally. Some even both.
That was true torture. We faced it all too well.
We were welcome with smiles. Quiet hello's and mugs of tea that saluted the air. Dean wasn't in the kitchens as everyone else, presumably resting.
Draco nodded his acknowledgement whereas my lips thinned. This type of pressure I was not used to. Far too unfamiliar and it nerved the trembling in my hands to return. Once we closed toward the rest of the Order, I sat on my hands to ease the shaking.
However, as if he noticed from the blink of his eye, Draco took my wrist in his hand and interlocked our fingers with one another, adding a soft squeeze of reassurance.
Finally, silence was broken, but perhaps not in the way we expected it to. Hermione whispered, "Why does it feel different this time?"
A look was shared between the group. "What do you mean?" Asked Seamus, causing Hermione to tighten the tension on her lips. She looked pained. As if a shiv had been pressed into her kidney.
"I mean-" She licks her lips, "-with what's happening. Nothing is going to be the same is it? Our time is near."
Two mugs of hot chocolate mountained over our bodies, heaped with cream, chocolate shavings and marshmallows - I hadn't seen Draco's smile gleam so wide at anything other than my naked body. He took his lips to it with such vastness that when he took a few gulps and pulled back, a faint dot of cream had resided on the button of his nose.
"Draco-" I couldn't help my giggle as I wiped the residue with my sleeve.
However, before he could even say anything or mirror my grin, there was a knock on the door. A frantic one at that. It caught everyone's attention. And slowly, the eeriness of the atmosphere doubled in weight.
"Does Snape usually knock on the door when visiting?" I whisper. And the puzzlement on everyone's face had told me the answer to my own questions.
Seamus stands, urging Narcissa to stay behind us as he stretches towards the front door. Taking his time, he pressed his ear against the wooden door and searched for any possible clues or giveaways. From what I knew, the door was always locked. The entire circumference of the cabin had been surrounded by a shield protecting spell.
Only its trustees were allowed to see it - the very reason why I couldn't when I first visited.
Should one ought to break it, not only would they need an extremely powerful wand, but also it would glisten through the crevices of the curtains that remained closed.
