- DRACO -

We leave the rest of the group and apparate away.

"Steady–" I hold onto Belle as she sways from the movement. "Are you alright?"

Belle swallows, a wave of confusing paleness ashens her skin. "I'm alright." She nods. "I think the apparition and pregnancy thing is just making me a little sickly."

"Do you want to sit down?"

She nods a second time and slowly, I bring her down where we landed. Her thighs in between mine, spine resting on my chest, we face the lake and the waves hitting the rocks upon the shore.

The sun glimmers, sparkling in everlasting beauty.

The soft breeze prances the ends of our hair against one another. A familiar tickle that you hum to in ease.

It's as wonderful as I last remembered it.

A part of me wants to ask Belle to make this our permanent home. Hidden from any trespassers, a stunning view which would be perfect for our little bat, we'd have my mother nearby who I wouldn't mind in ghost form. Even Dean.

And although I don't know him well, I wouldn't mind having a friend around. I couldn't be surrounded by women completely. I'd never win a fight. Especially not if Belle was present.

I'd give in to her and apologise even if it was her that set the situation ablaze.

"This is nice," Belle leans her head back.

I chuckle back, "Remember when I locked you outside?"

She shakes her head and already I know she's rolled her eyes. "Remember when we first kissed?"

"God I really hated you then." My thumb rubs the side of her arm, we sway slightly from side to side against the wind.

"I hated you just as much, Draco, the feeling was certainly mutual."

My hum confirms my acknowledgement, "Would you do anything differently?"

Belle pauses, taking in a long breath. She takes my hands and intertwines them before resting on her pregnant stomach, "I wouldn't change a bloody thing. Would you?"

"No."

We continue to watch the lake together, peacefully. Smiling and gracious. Happy and content in the moment of our win and case of flee.

"Do you want to head back inside now?" I question Belle, shakily she nods.

I mistake it for nervousness and when I stand, holding her arms to pull her up, my eyes, nose, mouth and heart– everything about me notices something. Something is wrong.

Her eyes flutter and it feels as though we're both floating on clouds.

Although my grip on her is tight, hers seems to loosen. "Belle?"

Unresponsive, a little trail of blood lines from her nostril until she collapses on her own accord. I jolt to catch her and lay her down on the ground.

"Belle–" I panic, my heart stammering, "Belle what is going on? Are you alright?"

"-Draco–" Her pupils dilate, her breath short and sporadic. "-I–"

That same fear of when I first lost her tears me to shreds. I rush to grip my wand and run a rapid diagnostic charm on her, yet it shows nothing. Just a very weak heart. As though they were too tired to beat.

Like the withdrawal of life was far too draining than saving it.

"No–" I shake my head, holding her cheeks, "-This– oh fuck–"
