Ruby's P.O.V~

"Let's grab a few things and head out mate, we should be with Daisy." I tell Max as I lift him down gently.

He looks up at me.

"Did I do a good job?" He asks quietly.

"You did an outstanding job." I reassure, stroking his hair.

I turn to the cupboards to pick up food.

"So he's dead?" I ask Max, wanting to find some hope that Glenn isn't gone.

"... The bridge, he ran up... when I got back it was obliterated. Nobody knew where he was..." Max tells me sadly.

I pick up a few cans of corn and stuff them in my bag for the house.

Max is rummaging through the draws, picking up baby stuff from the looks of it.

"Oh Max don't worry too much, I bought all her stuff that was in the room!" I say walking over and helping him carry it all.

"Oh that's excellent!" He exclaims happily.

"Oh and she won't need formula for a while, i'll probably feed her." I continue picking stuff up.

"Well we'll keep the stuff just in case, can't be too careful anymore." Max says as he stuffs the bottles into a bag.

"I'm here for you Max, and from now on it's okay to be sad. We need to be sad sometimes or we're as bad as the pricks who destroyed the prison." I tell him sternly.

"Okay Rubes." He says picking his bag up and walking towards the door to show that he was finished.

I quickly stuffed the last of my stuff in and followed.

Max stands at the door to check for walkers and I stand right behind him, proudly watching his responsibility.

He turns to me.

"All good." He says before taking off at a jog across the road.

I follow slowly behind him, looking up and down the street.

As we get to the front gate I spot Carl sitting on a roof eating from a giant can.

I decide not to approach him because he is old enough to decide what he would like to do and not have people question him.

Max is already round the back of the house and inside by the time I turn the corner and go to the door.

Rick is sitting at the kitchen table greeting Max as I get in.

"Hi." He greets me as I enter.

I chuck my bag down on the table.

"Hey." I reply.

I unpack some of the stuff for Daisy to feed her.

"Looks like you got a lot of stuff... need any help?"

"I'm good... if you could grab Daisy that would be great."

Rick turns around quickly and leaves to get Daisy whilst I grab the formula off the counter and chuck it in a bottle, I'm not comfortable breast-feeding in front of Rick.

Daisy comes through the door in Rick's arms.

I quickly chuck half a bottle of water in the bottle and shake it up for her.

"Here you go." Rick says passing me Daisy.

I look at Rick and his face expresses pure grief.

And that's when it hits me.

He doesn't have Judith.

The shock hits me like a fucking freight train.

"Uh... thanks!" I stammer.

"No worries." He replies.

I start feeding Daisy whilst trying to think of a condolence.

"I'm really sorry Rick." I tell him sincerely.

"We've both lost something." He mutters in reply.

"Would you like to feed her?" I suggest.

Rick holds his arms out gently to take her and I smoothly guide Daisy into his arms bottle and all.

I watch Rick's face soften as she nuzzles on the bottle.

"Do you know if anyone else made it?"

"I'm not sure." He says sadly.

"You know what?" I ask him.

"What?"

"I'm glad we did... I'm glad we made it."
