chapter 14

Ruby's P.O.V~

"Night Max." I whisper as I kiss his forehead. I pull the blanket up to his neck and untuck his little arms.

I climb down the ladder from the top bunk and I walk out of the cell, I shut the door and pull the key off from around my neck. I attatched Max and I's keys to strings and we kept them around our necks. I am always losing things.

I turn on my heel and walk towards the eatery, when I get there I go to get some food. It's 10'oclock so there isn't anyone here. I grab a protein bar and a glass of water and head over to the closest table and sit down.

"Hey." I hear and I turn around to see Alex.

"What's up?" I ask with a mouth full of protien bar.

"Can't sleep." He replies.

"Bad dreams?"

"Yeah, the worst."

"That sucks."

"So what are you doing up?"

"Ugh... hungry." I say, holding up the protein bar.

"Haha, so... do you ever miss the group?

"Yeah, I've barely seen them since I got here! I have only spoken to Isabelle and that's because Lily and Max hang out!"

"Yeah it's crazy! I mean there are so many people here!

"How is Jack?"

"Yeah, he is going well. He helps Susan and her Brandon out, after Aiden's death."

(A/N~~~ Look I am just trying to make a conversation, these people were the middle aged couple I mentioned in chapter one. Jack is the 35 year old. And Isabelle and Lily are the young couple and the eight year old.)

"Oh, how are they?"

"Yeah, Brandon is friends with that leader guy's son. The cowboy hat kid"

"Oh Rick's son?"

"Yeah, they hang out. And Susan made some friends as well."

"So who do you hang out with?"

"A guy who was from that Woodbury place, the one with the evil leader."

"Oh yeah, I heard about that."

"Yeah, he says that he didnt even know what happened."

"Wow. So do you like it here?"

"Yes! It's really normal here!"

"Yeah, they even have a baby!"

"I feel like I live in a normal little town, I feel like I can find a girl and settle down. Like I could live a real life."

"Ooh!!! So do you like a girl?"

"I think so... she is pretty amazing."

"What's she like?"

"Well she's tough, and brave, and cute, and confident."

"Oh she sounds awesome!"

"Mm... she is."

"So are you gonna ask her to be your girlfriend?"

"Well, I don't know. She might not be interested in me."

"Oh just ask her! Who knows what she'll say but you have to do it! Who knows how long we have left!" I tell him enthusiasticaly, my hands around his upper arms.

Suddenly Alex shakes off my grip and grabs my face, he pulls me to him and kisses me roughly. Before I can truly register what's happening his tongue has worked it's way into my mouth.

His hands slide down my back and grab my ass. I gasp and push away from him.

"Jesus mate!" I say, pushing him away by his chest.

"What, you told me to." He replies casually.

"Yeah but I thought you meant someone your own age!"

"Seriously Ruby, cut the crap. You aren't twenty six."

"Well i'm seeing someone."

"Who?"

"Well, it's not official yet."

"You bitch! I mean, you can't even reject me honestly!" He yells as he storms off.

I sigh as I rest my head in my hands.

So much drama! I think to myself as I feel a pair of arms snake around my waist.

"Don't ever kiss another guy again." I hear Glenn whisper hoarsely, his breath hot in my ear.

"I won't." I reply quietly.

"Let's go." He says

I grab his hand.

"Okay."
