Ruby's P.O.V~
I take a deep breath as I get out into the field.
There aren't many walkers around and my gun is loaded in my hand.
I walk over to the creek and stare into the shallow water.
Why does Maggie have to do this? I ask myself as I lay back on the grass.
Suddenly I hear a branch break from across the creek.
I raise my gun and wait for a biter to amble out.
Everything is dead still... It must be a deer.
I stand up and walk over the little footbridge towards where sound came from, keeping quiet so I won't startle the beast. I move a branch so I can see the deer...
Suddenly i feel a rough cloth being pulled over my face and I can't see anything.
I pull my gun up and fire directly behind me, the shot is followed by a scream.
My arms are pushed forward by the recoil and the attacker is pushed backwards.
I turn quickly and take my hood off when in my peripheral vision I see a small black line moving towards me before everything goes black.
~time lapse~
A light swings over my head and my whole body is throbbing.
"She's awake." A gruff male voice calls.
I turn to see a man with an eyepatch strolling towards me.
"Well ain't you a fighter? Any of my boys would be out for hours if this happened but you managed just under two before you woke up." he jokes angrily.
"Where, the fuck, am I?" I snarl viscously.
"Now sweetheart why would we tell you that?" He smiles as he slaps me across the face so hard that it reverberates around my skull.
"After all, you killed one of my favourites." he concludes, grinning down upon me sadistically.
The metallic taste of blood spreads through my mouth as I spit the fluids at the man.
He shrieks in disgust and backs up a few steps. I try to sit up but my stomach and arms are belted down onto the cold metal bench i'm laying on.
"You'll pay for that one sweetheart, you'll pay for that one." He says as he leaves.
I try to loosen the grip on my arms and my stomach and I manage to worm an arm out before I hear footsteps.
I lay my arm back down and wait silently.
I hear a door open and I see the man walk in with pliers.
"Now we are going to play a little game, it's called truths. the rules are simple; I get to ask a question and you have to tell me the truth, or I pull your toenail off with these pliers."
"Ha... I'd like to see you try." I reply with as much sass as I can muster.
He brings a chair over beside me and stands above me.
"You will tell me everything." He says confidently.
"No. I. Won't." I tell him as I stare angrily into his eyes.
He bends in really close to my face.
"I will kill you and your whole camp if you don't-" He manages to tell me before I grab the pair of pliers with my spare hand.
He starts to back away but I swing my arm towards his temple and knock him out.
He falls to the ground and undo myself at the waist before getting my other arm out.
I get the ropes off my ankles and jump off the bench, and to my delight there are several pieces of broken furniture in the room.
A twisted bed frame provides me with a good metal pole and I snap a splintered chair leg for a last-resort shank.
I walk over to the man and give him a second smack in the head before I decide that it's best for the group if I leave him alive, so the group doesn't seek revenge and the man is sufficiently scared so as not to attack.
I walk over to the door and twist the handle slowly, luckily it makes no noise.
I peek into the hall and see a man pacing up and down, guarding.
He takes twelve steps either way before turning and starting in the other direction, his paces are even and slow which give huge time gaps in which I can attack. The man has a limp on his right side and his knee is crook giving me a huge advantage in attack positions.
He begins towards the door again and I count his paces.
One.
Two.
Three.
Four.
Five.
Six.
Seven.
Eight.
Nine.
Ten.
Eleven.
Twelve.
As soon as he turns his back I slip silently through the door and whack him in the side of the leg with the pole whilst kicking the back of his knee in.
As he collapses I bring the pole around again and strike him a second time rendering him unconscious.
I study my surroundings and figure that this is and old storage unit complex, and that there is a safety sign right at the end of the corridor i'm in.
