chapter 19

I walk into the eatery, it's tall ceilings relieving me of the last feelings of terror I had faced today.

"Is it okay if I go to story time again tommorow Rubes?" Max questions.

"Yeah of course it is!" I reply happily.

"What are you reading?" I ask.

"Oh.. um.. Nursery rhymes!"

"Cool. You hungry?"

"Yes!"

"Cup-a-soup time!" I say as I swing my back pack around and grab the packets out.

"Take this upstairs please." I say haanding Max my backpack.

He takes it and bolts towards our cell.

I grab the cartons bar one and shove them in the pantry. I take the remaining box and open it to reveal two perfect little satchets of spanish tomato goodness.

I boil some water up on the stove top and pour it into two cups, along with the satchets.

Max is waiting patiently at a table for him soup. I grab the mugs and two spoons and sit down beside him.

"Here you go!" I say as I hand him his soup.

"Mmm!" He exclaims after taking a sip.

"We are home Ruby, this is home." He tells me quietly.

"Yeah I think it is." I say as I ruffle his hair.

Home... has a nice ring to it.

~after dinner~

"Have you brushed your teeth?" I question Max.

"No." He admits.

"Go brush them and hurry back to bed!" I command.

He scurries off to the bathroom and I head towards the eatery.

I am about six cells away from the eatery and I hear a god-awful commotion.

"You what?" I hear a woman's voice scream.

"She didn't know!" I hear a familiar-sounding man yell back.

Oh fuck.

"Oh hell she didnt know! I bet she did it just to cause shit!"

"She isn't like that! Stop being a bitch abot her and get angry at me! I cheated on you! I instagated his whole thing!"

I walk into the eatery and a crowd has formed around Glenn and Maggie.

"She is obviously at fault!"

"No! She said she isn't going to do anything else with me while I was in a relationship."

"So she got you to dump me!"

"No she got me to tell the truth! You are selfish, demanding, annoying and self-righteous! The only reason I was still with you was because I thought I would never find someone else!"

Wow.

"You bastard!" Maggie screams. She starts to storm off until she notices that I'm here.

Fuck fuck fuck...

"You little whore!" She screams as she walks towards me.

"Maggie I am so sorry. I didn't know about you when I started liking Glenn, and once he told me about you I told him we weren't continuing the relationship." I plead with Maggie.

"Oh sure you didnt know Glenn and I were practically engaged!" She hisses.

"Maggie-" Glenn interejects.
