Chapter 5 - Episode 24: Escapee's New Opportunity (September 11, 2021)

"Anyway, you're an employee of dad's past attorney, Arlyn Parker, right?" Earl asked Mylene, the applicant.
"Yes, Mr. Gray." she answered.
"Do you know that they already passed away?" after Earl asked this, he just saw the woman burst in tears.
"Wait, Ms. Harper. Take this. So you didn't know about what happened to them?" Earl just asked while giving her a handkerchief.
"Mr. Gray, don't be too shocked at this. But I'm the one who escaped when Mr. Eric and Ms. Parker when the taxi driver-." Mylene just stopped to continue crying on Earl's cloth.
"Please tell me everything when you're finished crying, Ms. Harper, if you just can, okay?" Earl requested before making space. After a couple of minutes...
"Mr. Gray, I'm ready." Mylene called him.
"Can you please tell me how did you and them ran at one another at Bulgaria?" Earl asked her.
"I'm about to go home at Bulgaria since I want to live there and at the airport, I saw your dad and Ms. Parker there so she told me to join them so that I can save up." Mylene started the story.
"Okay, and then?" Earl then asked her to continue.
"So we entered a taxi and he lured all of us to a warehouse and he stabbed your father and I saw Ms. Parker fighting with him and when she got severely injured, I just escape because I don't know what to do and tried to report but they can't understand English at all." Mylene continued before she cried again.
"I won't blame you for saving your own life, Ms. Harper. Consider this as a starting point of your second chance at life. You're hired." after he said this, Mylene just rushed to hug him.
"Thank you so-, Earl." she said between her cries.
"Please don't be guilty. The killer has been arrested already. Welcome to the company. Go to Mr. Denver Gray and he'll show you to your office." Earl just comforted her. When she stood up, her folders became scattered on the floor.
"Let me help you with- is this Elaine?" he asked her as he picks up a picture of Elaine from Mylene's files.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Earl. I must have accidentally brought a profile of my b—, I mean, Ms. Parker's daughter when I left their firm." Mylene just answered slowly as Earl helps her pick up her things.
"I'm not mad. I just can recognize my soon to be my wife even from afar." Earl explained to her.
"Oh, so you're about to be married? Congratulations, Mr. Gray." Mylene just shakes his hands using hers.
"Thank you. You may now go to the vice president so that he can bring you to your office. Welcome again." Earl greeted her before opening the door for her.
"Please call the next one." he then talked to the secretary who just got out of the restroom while Mylene is walking out.
"Phew! That was close." Mylene said to herself before walking at the halls to Denver's office.
