Recap: "What the hell is this?!" He asked, shocked.

Shit just got real...

Felicity's P.O.V.
"Chris," I said, shocked that he was there. I figured he probably would've given up on hanging out with the boys and went home. Apparently not...

"Felicity," he said, also shocked. He must not have seen me swim up to the group. He went back to being shocked. "What the hell is this?!" He repeated, this time facing me.

"Oh, you see," I laughed fakely, " that's a funny story actually."

"Really?" He asked sarcastically, "I'd love to hear it."

"So, um, Clarissa and I are mermaids." I said awkwardly.

"That is a pretty funny story, now what the hell is this really?" I looked at the rest of our group desperately. One of them had to have some sort of explanation, but to no avail. They all stayed silent. None of you are any help! I thought bitterly.

"Like I just said," I tried to explain again, "Clarissa and I are mermaids. And apparently so are everyone else.."

"Honestly, this joke is dumb," he said, pulling in my tail, apparently trying to pull it off or something.

"Ow!" I yelled in pain. He looked at me funny.

"Ok, I know you major in acting, but how did you make that so convincing?"

"Um, because I'm not acting," I said sassily, "It's attached to me."

"Mermaids aren't real," he said, I think trying to convince himself he was dreaming or something.

"Um, excuse me," Louis shouted sassily, "I happen to be a merman!"

"Ugh, whatever," Chris said, annoyed. While he was talking to Louis, I had started healing my tail. Mermaids, and possibly mermen, each get a power when they become a mermaid or merman. Most of them deal with water, such as burning, freezing, or moving water with their minds. While others, like mine, work just as long as they happen in the water. So, basically, as long as I try to heal myself in water, I can heal.

Chris had apparently finished arguing with Louis as he looked back at me an his eyes widened. "What are you doing?" He asked, curiously.

"Healing myself," I replied simply.
"Healing yourself?" He questioned.
"Yes, healing myself."
"How?"
"With my mind."
"What?"
"That's my power."
"Power?"

"Yes," I started, "my power. When we first transform into mermaids, and maybe mermen," I continued, looking at the boys for confirmation. They all nodded, so I went on "or mermen we each get a power. Most of them are associated with water such as moving, freezing, or heating it, while others just need to be done in the water, like my healing power." Chris was looking at me intently.

"Well, then what's yours?" He asked Clarissa.
"Mine is ice and snow. I can use them as weapons." She answered.

"What about the rest of you?" I asked, since we were discussing this.

Zayn went first, "I can kind of fly, I guess. As long as I start in the water, I can jump really high."

"I'm am empath," Niall said, "I can feel other people's emotions, so long as I'm near the water."

"I can heat water," Louis started, then explained further. "I don't have to be in the water to do it, but I can only do it to water. So, like I can boil and evaporate water, depending how much I heat it."

Liam went next. "I have super strength, I guess you could call it. As long as it's wet or in the water, I can lift things 100 times my own weight."

"I have super speed," Harry said, going last. "I mean, all mermaids have super speed, so they can swim faster, but I can also run really fast as long as I'm within 100 feet of water."

"Wait, you're serious?" Chris asked, laughing. "You all think you're merpeople?" He was laughing so hard that he was crying.

Finally, Clarissa got tired of him not believing us, and created an icicle and threw it in his direction. He yelled, scared, not knowing what was flying at him. When it missed him and he looked at what it was, he turned and stared at us, jaw dropped and eyes widened.

"Believe us now?" I asked with attitude. He nodded silently, still shocked. "Are you gonna let me explain further?" I questioned. He nodded silently again, and laid tensed intently.

"Ok, so, the story behind us being merpeople," I started gesturing to Zayn, Clarissa, and I, "is that there's a sort of curse on our family. On our first full moon when we're anywhere from 4-16, we have this strong urge to go swimming, an urge we can't fight. And when we do, we turn into merpeople for the first time."

"That is so beyond cliché," Chris said. "Anyways, sorry, keep going."

"Thank you. So, then after that, every time we touch water, our tails grow."

"Wow, really?" He asked.
"Yeah," I said.
"That's so cool!"
"Yeah, I guess it is when you think about it." I said, thinking about it. Then I turned and looked at the other four boys.
"So, how did you all become mermen?" I asked, curiously.

"Well," Harry started, "the four of us decided to go swimming together one night during X-factor- Zayn refused to come because he was 'tired' and wanted to sleep," he said putting air quotes around tired.

Niall continued the story," So we all went down to the beach, but it started to rain. It was horrible. There was thunder and lightning and everything."

Next was Liam, "I had seen a cave in the distance, so we took shelter in there. We could still swim, because it was just kind of an air pocket, so that's what we did."

Finally, Louis finished, "All of a sudden there was a bright light in the cave, I think from the moonlight coming through a hole in the wall or something. All of a sudden, we were all blinded, and when we could see again, we all had tails."

"It sounds magical!" I said excitedly, "you guys should take me there some time!" I loved all that stuff. Fantasy, magic, happy endings, it made me hopeful for what would happen later on in my life.

"It was pretty magical," Niall said also seeming to be excited. I giggled. "Sure, I'd love to take you," he smiled at me, and I felt the biggest smile stretch across my face.

"So, what happens now?" Chris asked curiously.
"Well, hopefully," I started, "we can get the boys settled in some more and we should definitely come swimming again."

"We should make this a thing," Chris said, as if this was the most brilliant idea ever.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"We should do this once a week or something, and every time we do, I should get to learn more about your other selves," he said, excitedly. That was an amazingly brilliant idea!

"That is an amazing idea," I said to him. "Now, it's getting really cold, so could you help all of us get onto the sand, preferably far away from the water, please? And Louis, do you think you could evaporate all this water?" I asked him. The sooner we dry off, the sooner we grow legs again and we can go home and make hot chocolate and tea.

"Sounds good," Louis said.
"Yeah," Chris agreed, " sounds like a plan."

So, Chris helped all of us, and we helped each other further up the shore and Louis started evaporating the water. After my legs grew back, I could still feel a warm, tingly feeling from the left over heat. It was comforting out here in the cold.

When we got home I made a whole bunch of tea (damn British boys are gonna use it all) and a hot chocolate for Chris. We all sat in the living room chatting about what had just happened.

It was a long day, and I was tired. "Hey, guys," I said to the group, "I'm gonna go to bed now, it's been a long day. Goodnight." I heard a chorus of 'goodnight' and 'see you tomorrow morning's and a 'Goodnight, love' from Niall and headed up to my room.

As soon as I got all curled up under my blankets, I passed out, not even having the energy to turn off my bedroom light. 'Oh well, I'll turn it off in the morning.' Was my last thought before traveling off to dreamland.
