*warning: gets a little steamy here*
Zayn's P.O.V.
We were all sitting in the living room, well, aside from Louis and Clarissa. Clarissa apparently had band practice every Tuesday, and Louis had disappeared somewhere about an hour ago. I have no idea where, but Louis just does what he wants, so it's usually best to just let I'm wander off as he pleases.
Lexi was curled up next to me on the couch, listening intently to the conversation. I, on the other hand, was too focused on Lexi to really notice anything else. I was idly playing with her fingers, which were intertwined with my own, and her head was resting on my chest.
I noticed Lexi pulling out her phone, and a strange look appeared on her face. Before I could ask what was wrong, she told me she'd be right back, leaving the room. I looked at her retreating form, confused. What had she seen on her phone that made her leave the room so quickly?
"What's up with her?" Harry asked, noticing her leaving in a rush. My thoughts exactly...
"I don't know, but I'm about to find out," I told them all, rushing out of the room in the same direction Lexi had went.
I followed the sound of her rapid footsteps out the door, until they stopped. Damn grass. Why can't you just make a little bit of noise? I stood in the front yard for a minute, then followed my instincts, and headed left. My instincts, luckily, were correct, as I seen her sitting under a tree, her head buried in her knees.
I noticed immediately that her shoulders were shaking, and I found myself getting pissed off and overprotective. Who the hell made my girl cry? I quickly walked over to her, standing there for a minute. I stood silently, as to not be heard, debating what to do. I silently evaluated the situation, deciding whether it would be better to leave her alone, or comfort her.
I went with the latter, and sat beside her, pulling her to my chest. She looked up at me, shocked. When she seen it was me, she sighed quietly in relief, before burying her face back in my chest. She didn't cry this time though.
"It's ok to cry, you know," I said to her, sensing that she didn't want to cry in front of me. "If you really don't want to, then I understand that too. But could you at least tell me why you're crying?"
She stayed silent for a while, aside from a few sniffles every now and then. We just sat there quietly for a while, just enjoying each other's company. Until she spoke up, "sometimes, I just need an escape," she said to me. I looked at her, patiently waiting for her to continue. She'd tell me when she was ready to, whatever she was supposed to be telling me. I was just confused.
When she didn't, I decided to help a bit, " an escape from what, love?" I urged her. I guess she just needed that little push, because as soon as I said that, tears stared rolling down her face silently.
"Can we go somewhere else?" She asked me. I nodded at her. Of course we could. If that's what she needed, then that's what we'd do.
She stood up, me standing after her. She closed her eyes, and focused really hard on... something. Although, I didn't know what. About a minute or so later, she opened her eyes, and held her hands out in front of her. All of a sudden, a random picture appeared in the sky. It looked like a meadow or something, but it was floating in mid-air, and didn't at all fit in with its surrounding area.
I looked at Lexi confused. She grabbed my hand, and walked straight into the picture, dragging me behind her. Wait, what?
"You can make portals?" I asked her in disbelief. She nodded, and I looked around, fascinated. She stood there silently, while I looked around, grinning at me fondly.
