Chapter 5

Lui and Maiko... In one room... Talking in peace....

Who would've thought?

"So, how long have you been blading?" Maiko asked, while staring at the board. She was still nervous to make eye contact with the great Lui Shirosagi.

"Dunno really, ever since I started kindergarten I guess..?" Surprisingly- he answered.

"Wow" Maiko finally made eye contact with him and gasped.

"How about you? 'Little Ms. Starlight'? What's a celebrity like you doing here at Rideout academy? Aren't you worried you'll be bombarded by fans?" Lui asked, mocking her alias.

Maiko blushed and looked away instantly. Lui just smirked at this.

"𝐼 𝑡ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑔ℎ𝑡 ℎ𝑒 𝑤𝑎𝑠𝑛'𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑡𝑦𝑝𝑒 𝑜𝑓 𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑜𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑙𝑖𝑘𝑒𝑠 𝑝𝑜𝑝 𝑚𝑢𝑠𝑖𝑐! 𝑆𝑜 ℎ𝑜𝑤 𝑑𝑜𝑒𝑠 ℎ𝑒 𝑘𝑛𝑜𝑤 𝑚𝑦 𝐴𝑙𝑖𝑎𝑠??" Maiko thought to herself, blushing madly.

"U-uhh.. Haha.. Well.." She started..

"Actually, I've been home schooled my whole life. So I don't have any friends. Sooo.. I asked my mom if I can finally go to a real school. I really want to explore new things outside my house and the stage." She explained, looking down at her desk.

"Huh" was all Lui said, staring at the girl.

"I have a question." Maiko suddenly faced Lui. But Lui was in shock (that he was caught staring) he doesn't know what to do, so he just kept his eye contact with the girl in front of him, and remained his poker face.

"How do you make friends?" She asked.

"𝑃ℎ𝑒𝑤, 𝑔𝑜𝑜𝑑 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑠ℎ𝑒 𝑑𝑖𝑑𝑛'𝑡 𝑎𝑠𝑘 𝑤ℎ𝑦 𝐼 𝑤𝑎𝑠 𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑎𝑡 ℎ𝑒𝑟." He thought.

"Pshh, even that you don't know?" Lui scoffed and placed his hand under his chin. Maiko just sweat dropped.

"What about Gabe? He's your friend? Isn't he?" He said (like stating the obvious). And looked out of the window.

"Wait... Gabe's my.. Friend..?" Maiko asked, bewildered.

"Tsk, yeah, isn't it obvious? You two talked and it seemed like you two had a good conversation." He pointed out.

He was so focused on the view outside, he didn't notice Maiko smiling widely, while blushing.

"𝐺𝑎𝑏𝑒'𝑠.. 𝑀𝑦 '𝑓𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑑'... 𝐼 𝑓𝑖𝑛𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑎 𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑙 𝑓𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑑..." She thought, smiling to herself.

"𝑇𝑠𝑘, 𝑦𝑒𝑎ℎ, 𝑖𝑠𝑛'𝑡 𝑖𝑡 𝑜𝑏𝑣𝑖𝑜𝑢𝑠? 𝑌𝑜𝑢 𝑡𝑤𝑜 𝑡𝑎𝑙𝑘𝑒𝑑 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑖𝑡 𝑠𝑒𝑒𝑚𝑒𝑑 𝑙𝑖𝑘𝑒 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑡𝑤𝑜 ℎ𝑎𝑑 𝑎 𝑔𝑜𝑜𝑑 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛." 𝑆ℎ𝑒 𝑟𝑒𝑐𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑒𝑑 𝐿𝑢𝑖'𝑠 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑑𝑠 𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑙𝑖𝑒𝑟.

"𝑊𝑎𝑖𝑡... 𝐼𝑠 𝐿𝑢𝑖 𝑚𝑦 𝑓𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑑?" 𝑆ℎ𝑒 𝑎𝑠𝑘𝑒𝑑 𝑡𝑜 ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑒𝑙𝑓.

"Umm.. Are we... Also friends?" She shyly asked. This caused Lui to peal off his gaze from the window and back to the girl in front of him. He stared at her with wide eyes.

"W-well.. You said that me and Gabe became friends because we had a good conversation.. We're having one as well right...?" She asked, fumbling with her fingers.

"Y-yeah, I guess you could say that." He scoffed, hiding the blush on his face by looking at the window.

Maiko let out a slightly light gasp, holding her cheeks. She immediately tackled Lui in a hug.

"AAA I FINALLY HAVE A FRIEND!!" She beamed, hugging the blue boy tightly.

"Yes yes! Now get off of me!" He shoved her off, gently. Maiko just chuckled at this, and went back to her seat.

Lui was mad blushing. But Maiko couldn't see it, cause he was staring at the window.

"𝐼 𝑓𝑖𝑛𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑓𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑑𝑠..." She thought to herself, mystified.

~At lunch~

The bell rang, meaning, it's finally lunch time.

Lui stood up and started to walk out. "O-oh, c-can I eat lunch with you pls?" Maiko shyly asked. This caused whispers.

"Marina? Having lunch with Lui?"

"Isn't she scared of him?"

"What does Lui have that I don't?"

But Maiko ignored all of it. The only voice she needs to hear is Lui's.

"Rideout is having a training session today." He simply answered and continued to walk out again. But Maiko caught up to him.

"I-it's fine! I'll assist you on your training!" She insisted. She wanted to meet the members of Rideout. She wanted to make more friends.

"Tsk, whatever." He scoffed and walked out. Maiko took that as a yes and followed him like a puppy.

They finally made it to the gym. Entering a room. There, Maiko saw Gabe, and 3 people she doesn't know.

"Oh, Maiko! You're here!" Gabe approached the smaller girl. Maiko just giggled.

"Oh yes! This is Rideout!" Gabe pointed out to the 3 people. He guided Maiko to each person.

"This is Katana."

"This is Kyo."

"And this, is Shinki."

He introduced them. "And of course, Lui." He pointed at Lui, who was crossing his arms.

"So, are you guys gonna train?" She asked.

"Yeah." Kyo answered.

Then they went to the bey stadiums and formed their launch positions.

"Oh.. You're not gonna eat lunch..?" she asked.

"Don't worry, they ate lunch already." Gabe reassured.

"𝑊𝑜𝑤, 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑦 𝑚𝑢𝑠𝑡 𝑏𝑒 𝑞𝑢𝑖𝑐𝑘 𝑒𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑠." She thought.

"You can sit there and eat your lunch." Gabe pointed to a bench. "O-oh thank you!" Maiko bowed and sat in the bench. Eating her delicious lunch. She noticed that Lui wasn't in the room anymore.

"𝐻𝑚𝑚...𝐻𝑒 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑦 𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑒𝑑 ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑐𝑙𝑜𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑠." She thought and went back to eating.

Not long after, she caught Lui pass by the room, in his training clothes. But didn't come inside. This made Maiko curious and followed him. Luckily, he was just in the other room.

The door was slightly opened, so she took a peak inside. He did the exact same thing he did yesterday. Pull the large chord.

Maiko only let out a "Huh" and went back to the room Rideout was in.

"Does Lui usually train like that? You know all alone? Pulling the large chord thingy?" She asked Gabe as she went back to her lunch.

"Yeah." He answered as he launched his bey.

"Hmmm" was all Maiko let out and ate her omelette.
