Chapter 30

5 days...

Zac hasn't seen her sister in 5 days....

Maiko locked herself up in her room for 5 whole days.

But Zac knows she's been eating. He leaves food for her at the door and was relieved when he came back and the plate was empty. And he knows Maiko takes a bath on her own bathroom. So he's not worried about her health.

He's worried about her MENTAL health.

Zac sighed, and Ayaka quickly went to comfort him.

"What's wrong Zac?" She asked as she sat next to him.

"I'm worried about my sister... She looked ok when the contest ended.. I thought- Argh! I'm such an idiot!" He said and covered his face with his hands.

"I thought she was ok... But it turns out she really wasn't... I should've paid more attention to her... What kind of a brother am I??" He sighed as he gazed at the ceiling.

Ayaka placed a hand on his shoulder and gently held his face to face her. "Hey... You're the best big brother.. We were all oblivious at first... But now we can help her..." Ayaka softly said. And Zac said nothing, he was just staring at his girlfriend's beautiful eyes.

How lucky he was that he has Ayaka in his life.

Suddenly, the bell rang. Zac went up to get it, and was shocked when Lui was at the door.

He was holding a paper bag and had a serious look on his face. Zac gestured him to come inside, and he did.

"Where's Maiko?" He asked.

"She locked herself up in the room for five days... Not once has she ever come out... She even missed my match against Valt and Akira..." He explained.

Lui didn't say anything.

"You knew too right?" Zac asked. And Lui just nodded.

"It's not that easy to accept a defeat when you spent your life's work on it." He explained. "Not even the brightest of stars can outshine that tragedy..."

"Say Lui... Maybe you can cheer her up..." Zac said. He gave the keys to Maiko's room. Lui just nodded and left the couple alone.

While walking the silent hallways, his mind begins to fill up with thoughts.

Back to when the National team finals took place...

It was the first time Maiko got seriously angry at Lui. Lui's heart snapped into pieces. It was because of the fact that Maiko is a cheerful, lovable, happy go lucky girl. She rarely gets angry. And for her to get angry at you means you messed up big time.

If it were anyone else, he wouldn't care.

But this was different. It was Maiko.

He would do ANYTHING to make this girl forgive him.

Back to all his battles in the individual tournament....

To be honest... Lui was kinda bored. It's because his number 1 cheerleader wasn't there to cheer for him. But he understands it.

He wanted his battles to be quick because he wants to watch the only star of his sky perform.

And every performance Maiko made, made him fall in love with her more.

He doesn't want to admit it...
