Warning: This episode is a bit depressing— mainly with Maiko having a breakdown. If you don't like or aren't comfortable with these kinds of scenes, you can just skip this part :)

-----

All of Maiko's fans were shocked with the results, they were dead silent. The only noise you'll hear are the noise from Yui's fans.

Ayaka, Zac, and everyone else's jaw dropped.

"SAY WHAT?!" Rantaro shouted.

"Impossible..." Maiko couldn't believe it... All that hard work... For nothing...

But Maiko quickly changed her expression. She wore a huge smile on her face while watching Yui get all the prizes she thought she'll get.

"Oh Maiko! I'm so happy! I didn't expect to win this! Hahaha!" Yui said with a huge smile on her face.

"Wow... Luck is surely on your side..." Maiko said calmly.

"I know! Hahaha!" Yui turned her attention back to the millions of flashing cameras.

~Meanwhile at the VIP Seats~

"Impossible... Her performance was spot on..She should've won this..." Zac gasped.

"Oh sweetie..." Her mom said, tearing up. Her youngest child gave her blood, sweat, and tears for the performance, yet it wasn't enough

Lui was furious. He was gritting his teeth and clenching his fists.

"This is ridiculous." He scowled.

------

Once they were done taking pictures of Yui, the show officially ended.

Maiko was walking alone down the quiet halls. She was the only one there. The only thing you'll hear is the sound of her heels clicking.

The once calm expression she wore was now altered to a disappointed one. She hung her head in shame.

She was about to enter her dressing room when someone shouted her name.

"Maiko!"

She shot her head up to see who it was. She gasped when she saw all her family and friends running towards her.

"Are you ok sweetie..?" Her mom asked while caressing her daughter's cheek. Maiko forced a smile.

"I'm fine, mom. Don't worry." She reassured.

"I'll just go change, see you in a bit!" She smiled at her loved ones before closing the door.

Once she closed the door, the smile on her face vanished. She sighed heavily and just stood there for a moment, gazing at the ceiling.

After changing her clothes, she took one good look in the mirror and exhaled.

She turned the doorknob and opened it to see her friends and family patiently waiting for her.

"Come on guys! Let's go get ice-cream! My treat!" She winked at everyone. And their jaw dropped to the floor.

"A-are you sure??" Akari asked, still confused. Isn't she supposed to be bummed out since she didn't win??

"Oh it's fine! Don't worry! There's still next year am I right~?" She winked again.

And everyone sighed in relief, that their star is just ok.

"That's my little sister! She puts the 'light' in 'STARLIGHT'!" Zac said.

"Don't worry, you'll win next year for sure!" Ayaka winked. And Maiko just giggled.

"Come on guys! Last one to the car gets to pay their own ice-cream! HAHAHA!" Then she quickly ran off, everyone laughed and followed her.

But Lui still didn't move. He was furrowing his brows.

"Something isn't right..." He thought to himself and proceeded to followed the others.

-------

And as soon as they finished their ice-cream, everyone went separate ways.

And Maiko was once again, walking alone in the halls of their mansion. Zac, Ayaka, and her mom, stayed at the living room. While Maiko excused herself because she was tired.

Her happy expression altered into a blank one. Once she entered the room, she locked it and fell on her knees.

She sighed once again and buried her head in her elbows. She stayed in that position for a few minutes after finally getting up.

She passed by her shelf full of trophies and stared at it...

Tears started to fall from her eyes and she started to scream.

It was good that her room was sound proof.

She angrily shoved all of the trophies onto the floor.

"THAT STUPID LOATHSOME YUI!"

"WHAT'S THE POINT ANYMORE?!"

She shouted as she angrily tore off posters of herself from the wall.

"I DESERVED THAT WIN! I WAS THE ONE WHO DEDICATED MY LIFE TO MUSIC! NOT YUI! I WAS THE ONE WHO PRACTICED DAY AND NIGHT! NOT HER! I WAS THE ONE GIVING IT MY ALL! ALL SHE DID WAS DO SOME STUPID DANCE THAT GOES WITH HER ATROCIOUS VOICE!"

She smashed all the framed pictures of herself, winning singing competitions when she was a kid.

"I WAS STUPID ENOUGH TO THINK ABOUT DOING STUNTS IN MY PERFORMANCE WHEN ALL THAT ABOMINABLE YUI NEEDED WAS DUMB LUCK?!"

"ALL SHE DID WAS JUST STAND THERE AND DANCE LIKE AN IDIOT! WHAT DOES SHE HAVE THAT I DON'T?!"

"LUI'S RIGHT! THE JUDGES ARE BLIND AND STUPID!"

She smashed a framed picture of herself into the wall. It was where she won her first singing contest. She was 7 at that time. And that was where the star was born.

"IT'S ALL USELESS!"

After tearing up every single poster off the wall, smashing all of the picture frames, breaking all of the trophies. She knelt on the floor.

Tears were falling like a waterfall. She then turned her head to her desk.

𝑆𝑐𝑖𝑠𝑠𝑜𝑟𝑠.

She took them without hesitation, and messily cut some of her hair.

Once she was done cutting, she threw the scissors away and cried some more. She covered her face in her hands.

"I'll never be as good as Zac... Ayaka... Lui... And everyone else... I'll never be good for anyone..." She started to doubt herself.

After crying all her despair out, she laid down her bed and wrapped herself in her blanket. Still sniffling, Prince comforted his owner by laying down by her side.

Maiko gently stroke her cat's soft fur. And slowly drift off to sleep.

Well, not all of the picture frames were destroyed.

There's was one she couldn't bare to destroy.
