Chapter 36

It was a bright and sunny day at the cruiseship. A perfect day to go out and swim in the pool.

They were at their own rooms, changing into their swimsuits.

Lui sat on the bed, patiently waiting for Maiko to finish. Once he heard the door of the walk-in closet open, he turned his head around.

He saw Maiko wearing an adorable swimsuit, and her hair in a side ponytail, that made his heart skip a beat. But he remained his poker face intact. Maiko went infront of Lui and twirled around.

"It's cute isn't it?" She giggled.

"Yeah." Was all Lui could say. He doesn't want to be seen as soft. He wears a poker face, yet his heart is uncontrollably pounding.

"Come on! Let's go swimming!! Woohoo!!" Maiko beamed and ran off, Evee following her.

Lui only watched her skip out of the room — seconds later, he could feel something drip from his nose.

Maiko was too cute, he made Lui's nose bleed.

Lui quickly wiped it off and followed Maiko to the pool area.

Their were so many people at the pool area; Children playing, adults chatting, others, sunbathing. Amidst the crowd, Lui and Maiko spotted Ayaka and Zac at a small table. They approached the older couple.

"Looking good, sis!"

"Awww, Maiko! You look adorable!"

The two complimented. And Maiko could only let out a giggle.

"You look beautiful too, Ayaka!" Maiko complimented back. Ayaka was wearing a black, 2 piece bikini. She let her long hair down, and also had some shades on.

"Now come on! Let's play!" Maiko said as she jumped into the pool. Zac followed, cannon-balling onto the pool. It was so huge, it splashed Ayaka and Lui. Ayaka laughed at it, meanwhile Lui wasn't impressed.

"Come on, Lui! The water's nice!" Mariko flapped her arms around, splashing the water. Lui wasn't a fan of pools nor beaches.

Ayaka turned towards Lui and let out a smirk. She took the last sip of her drink, placed it on the table, and slowly walked towards him.

She was so stealthy, Lui didn't notice her walking behind him.

"COME ON LUI SHARK! LET'S HAVE SOME FUN!" She shouted as she grabbed Lui's wrist and jumped into the pool with him.

When Ayaka and Lui ascended, all of them laughed. Well, except for Lui.

"Haha very funny." He rolled his eyes. Ayaka just did a peace sign.

"What about we have a little game? Hmm?" Zac suggested, and they all nodded.

"Whatever." Lui grumbled.

"Oh! Oh! How about we play that one game! Oh my, what's it called again? Chicken wrestling? Noodle wrestling? ARGH WHATEVER!" Maiko shouted in frustration.

"You mean 'Chicken fight'?" Ayaka said.

"YES!" Maiko grinned.

"Ok then!" Ayaka agreed, and so did Zac.

"Tsk! I'm out of here." Lui said, swimming away.

"Awww, Lui!!" Maiko pouted.

"No no, sis, let him be." Zac blocked his sister.

"Lui couldn't even handle it anyway."

"Say what?!" Lui stopped swimming to turn around and glare at the smirking Zac.

"We all know you're scared, Lui. Don't worry we understand." He continued.

"WHO SAID I WAS SCARED?!" Lui shouted.

Zac never tore off the smug look on his face. "Hah! Want a bet?" He challenged.

"Oh you're on!" Lui accepted his challenge.

Ayaka was sitting on Zac's shoulders, while Maiko was on Lui's. Ayaka and Maiko were both wrestling with their arms, both trying very hard to stay standing.

Ayaka gave a hard push that caused Maiko to fall, with Lui falling next.

"MWAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!" Ayaka laughed at their faces.

Lui glared at them and quietly swam under the water. The older couple were too busy laughing to notice Lui swimming towards them.

He pulled on Zac's leg, causing him and Ayaka to fall too. "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Maiko laughed at the well deserved karma the two got.

Minutes later, they all got off the pool to rest for a bit.

Maiko sat beside Lui, who was dipping his feet on the pool.

"Look, Evee! The water's nice isn't it?" She said, playing with her cat. She lift Evee off the ground and dipped her paw into the water. Evee quickly retracted her paw — Maiko just giggled.

"Who's a cute little cat? You are~ You areee~" Maiko nuzzled her nose against Evee's.

And Lui's jealousy suddenly came back.

"I'm gonna go get us some drinks." Ayaka said and walked towards one of the shops.

But while walking, Ayaka's beauty attracted so many men. She hasn't even reached the stall yet, and she was already surrounded by 5 men. And it looked like they were foreigners who don't seem to know who she is.

"Hey there Miss."

"You single?"

"What's your number ma'am?"

"I'm James, what's your name?"

"My name is Jared, but you can call me yours~"

Ayaka cringed at some of their pathetic attempts at flirting, but ignored them nonetheless. She never bothered looking at their faces. She just faced forward, ignoring them as if they don't exist.

From afar, Zac tightened his hold on the drink he was holding. "Those scumbags." He glared and smoothly walked towards them.

Ayaka blocked off all their voices.

"Oh my goodness, I just wanted to get a drink!" She internally said and groaned. But she was caught off guard when she suddenly felt a familiar pair of lips.

Zac let go of the kiss and held Ayaka's waist. He quickly led Ayaka far away from the 5 men, who was dead silent.

Ayaka looked up at Zac, but he just kept facing forward. She smiled warmly and leaned onto his hold — resting her head on his shoulder.

Zac trusted his girlfriend. He just did that to let the other guys know that Ayaka was taken.

He can handle the spotlight being taken away from him. As long as he has his Ayaka, he's already at peace.
