She turned her head to see Lui hugging her desperately.

"Pls.. Don't give up... I'm sorry..." He begged, hugging her tightly.

"Why? It's not your fault I lost." Maiko blankly said. "And I'm sure I'll find another career soon... Maybe I'll try Beyblade or something..." She whispered the last part. But instantly recalled the time she accidentally hit Zac in the face when trying to launch Zeutron.

She shivered at the memory.

"Nevermind.." She whispered, shrugging away the thought.

"B-but you can't just give up on your dream! You can rise on your own! Even without the help of Japan's biggest music company!" Lui exclaimed. Maiko just stared her once colorful eyes (but now lifeless and dull) into Lui's violet ones.

"I can, and I will. This is MY life, Lui. I can do whatever I want." She nonchalantly said.

"Maybe I can try cooking?.. Hmm.. Or maybe I can bake some pastries.. Or-"

"STOP IT!" Lui interjected.

"The girl I love once told me to chase my dreams no matter what the cause. No matter what obstacle lies ahead. Once you cross the finish line, that's where life becomes blissful. And you'll realise how much crossing the finish line was worth. These unfortunate events are just tests to see how far you'll go in reaching for your dream. You were almost at the finish line Maiko... But here you are.. Doing the exact opposite of what you told me." Lui enunciated.

He slipped out his declaration of love, but he didn't care anymore.

Maiko widened her eyes.

"𝐿𝑢𝑖...𝑙𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑠 𝑚𝑒...?"

She began to tear up.

"𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝑔𝑢𝑦 𝐼 𝑙𝑜𝑣𝑒... 𝐿𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑠 𝑚𝑒 𝑏𝑎𝑐𝑘..."

Lui softened his gaze when Maiko started crying. "H-hey.." He didn't know what to do but just wiped the girl's tears.

"Y-you love me..?" She sniffed, giving the boy on top of her a small smile, despite the tears.

Lui looked away.. "Yes.. But that's not the point! What I'm saying is-" He was cut off when Maiko pulled him down next to her.

Now it was her turn to hug the boy tightly. "I love you too Lui..." She said, then cried some more. She buried her face in his chest. And Lui couldn't do anything, but hug her back.

They slowly drift off to sleep because of each other's comfort.

-------

They woke up an hour later.

They both sat up. And sat in silence for a few minutes.

"Uhh.. Here.. Chocolates." Lui said as he handed the girl the box of chocolates.

"Thank you." Maiko gave the boy a soft smile.

"So uhh-"

"Hmmm.. Lui, do you know what's the second best music entertainment in Japan? If so, I'll just apply there instead. Hmp! I don't need THAT company! I'll rise up by myself!" Maiko huffed while popping a piece of chocolate in her mouth.

And Lui just stared at the girl at disbelief. "𝑊ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒— 𝐻𝑜𝑤 𝑓𝑎𝑠𝑡 𝑐𝑎𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑔𝑖𝑟𝑙 𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑒 ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑚𝑜𝑜𝑑?! 𝐼- 𝑛𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑑." Lui chose not say anything, he's just happy that Maiko's old self is back again.

"I don't know." Lui scoffed. He doesn't know anything about the music industry. Maiko just shrugged and continued eating her chocolate.

A few minutes later, she ate up all the chocolates in the box. She grimaced at the mess she created in her room.

Glass shards everywhere. Torn up posters. And some of her hair were scattered on the ground.

"Man... This is a mess..." She sweat dropped. "I'll go get a broom.." She said and walked out of the room.

Lui thought of helping to clean up. He gently picked up the pictures from the floor. Most of them were pictures of Maiko holding an award. He turned his head around to examine the room, and his eyes landed on the only picture frame that was spared from destruction.

𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝑝𝑖𝑐𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑒 𝑜𝑓 ℎ𝑖𝑚 𝑎𝑛𝑑 Maiko...

It was sitting at the bedside drawer. All in one piece, while the other pictures were on the ground.

Lui softly smiled and continued picking up the pictures. But he was shocked when he noticed some of Maiko's hair in the ground.

"𝐷𝑖𝑑 𝑠ℎ𝑒 𝑐𝑢𝑡 ℎ𝑒𝑟 ℎ𝑎𝑖𝑟?!" He didn't know Maiko cut her hair. She had her hood up the whole time so he couldn't see her hair.

He heard the door open and saw Maiko holding a broom, trash bag, and a dustpan.

"You cut your hair.." He quietly said.

"Yeah..." She just shrugged.

And they started to clean the room.

"Are you sure you want to throw these?" Lui asked, throwing the torn-up posters in the trash bag.

"Yep. I want a fresh new start!" Maiko beamed at Lui. And Lui just smiled at her.

And after a few minutes, the room was now spotless.

And while Maiko was clapping at their success, Lui quickly pulled her hood down. Revealing Maiko's messy hair.

"A-Ah!" She quickly pulled her hood back up and hung her head down low. But Lui gently held her face, and raised it so she could look at him.

"Don't worry, you're still cute, no matter what kind of hair you have." He comforted, and caressed Maiko's soft face.

Lui stared at the girl infront of him, and slowly leaned his face closer to Maiko, but stopped when their faces were just inches apart.

"May I..?" He quietly asked. And Maiko just nodded.

And he slowly kissed Maiko. Maiko melted in the kiss and kissed back.

𝑇ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑤𝑎𝑠 𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑢𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑖𝑟 𝑓𝑖𝑟𝑠𝑡 𝑘𝑖𝑠𝑠.

Lui pulled back and just stared at Maiko's eyes. He smirked when Maiko was blushing madly. "Huh? First kiss I assume?" Lui smugly said (despite it being his first kiss too). Maiko looked away, but nodded. Lui just smirked at patted the girl's head.

"Come on, let's go see your family. They're worried sick about you." Lui said while grabbing Maiko's hand, and walking out of the room.

------

When they went downstairs, Zac, Ayaka, and her mom were all in the living room. They all stopped their conversation when they saw Maiko finally out of her room.

"Oh sweetie! I was so worried about you! Are you ok?!" Mrs. Kaneguro rushed towards her only daughter and hugged her tightly.

"I'm ok mom." Maiko tried to say, despite struggling to breathe.

Once her mom let her go, Ayaka joined in. "Woah.. Marina.. What's with the hair??" Ayaka's face was pure shock.

"Is it really that bad..?" She asked, then rushed towards a mirror. She too, cringed at her own reflection when she saw her own hair. This was actually the first time she saw her hair. She covered up the mirrors in her room in the previous days because she refused to look at herself.

And boy was it messy.. It was all over the place. And the end of her hair was slanted because the cut was uneven.

"It's really not that bad.. It just needs a little.. Reshaping."
