“Where have you been?” December asks me when I return to school..
“Oh, well um, you see, Kai and I…” I start to say.
“Got married early?!”
“Oh no! We actually kinda sorta broke up.”
“Oh. My. God.” She screams. I can only imagine the pitiful things going through both of your heads!” December hugs me tightly. “Anyway let’s get off that subject. Are you excited that you are almost out of school?”
“Well duh. I only have a week left, though. It flew by, but you know, I’m trying to get away from all of this.”
“I know we haven’t been friends all that long, but I am going to miss you next year.”
“Oh yeah! I forgot you are only a sophomore. Man, you are young!” I say jokingly.
“I know! And Stacey is a Junior so I’m going to be alone my Senior year.” She says.
“Hey! Maybe you’ll make friends with a sophomore.” I smile. “That’s what I did.”
“One could only hope! I have to get to class early today, so I’ll text you!” She says as she runs off to math. I have nothing to do now, so I might as well get to class. i put headphones in when I walk into english, and listen to some relaxing music recommended by Dr. Wilson. He said to listen to it whenever I am feeling stressed. Dr. Wilson is one of those psychiatrists that don't like to prescribe pills to change your mood, he likes to try and use regular methods to relax, even though some of them sound silly.
I begin to write a new part of one of my many stories I have been working on. Honestly, I don’t know how I keep up with all of them but I remember each individual story. I feel someone else walk in the room and i instinctively look up to see who it was. I feel my cheeks get hot with anger and a little bit of embarrassment. I take a deep breath and continue to write. There is no reason to be worried.I tell myself. Everything is going to be fine. Just ignore her. Yeah, because every other time you have ignored Jenna she has just left you be, right? Didn’t think so. The other part of me says. I hate this part of me. Partly because it’s right.
Jenna doesn't sit in her regular spot, but she doesn’t sit close to me either. She sits in the back of the room. How odd. For someone who wants to be the center of the world she is playing lying pretty low.
And that’s it. Nothing. Nothing all class. No one says anything. Maybe the thing December and Stacey started is actually working.
Next class, French. A boy who never really talked to me, I think his name is Logan, sat by me.
“Um hi. My name is Logan.”
“Hi, I’m-”
“Araceli. I know. Everyone does.” He interjects.
“Oh. Okay then, so what’s up?”
“Um, well actually, Me and a couple of my friends are having a party tonight and we were wondering if you’d come.”
“Oh, I’m not much fun at parties.” I say.
“Come on! It’ll be fun I promise! I give you my word!” He begs.
“Alright.” I sigh.
“Yes! My house. 7. I’ll text you the rest.” He finishes as the bell rings. He turns his attention toward the board. I see Kai sitting in the front row giving me a death stare.
“What?” I mouth to him. Kai pulls out his phone and texts me something.
Seriously? You hate parties. ~K
