Creating an Operation Manual

In this chapter we're going to discuss about how to create an operation manual. By now you should you have already landed some clients and have been working hard on fulfilling those services.

You should already have a very good idea of what you do on a daily basis. So now is the time to write it all down. Put it on paper. In fact pull out a notebook or Evernote on mobile or laptop as I say and jot everything that you do down. And this is going to become your operation manual.

The first place is to start off with marketing and sales. Write out everything that you've done to this point try to put it in a list form or in bullet points to make it easy to refer to it. For example if you sent out e-mails copy and paste the last one that you sent and then you can use this as a template for future sales emails.

Again the overarching concept here is to be creating systems even down to your sales emails. Next write down everything you do to fulfil the services. This includes every tool you use every website you visit every little detail again put it in a list form. This will become a checklist of sorts for your operations team. In short you write down everything that you do and put it in your operation manual.

I know this is going to seem somewhat tedious and take a while but it will really be helpful for you. I can't overemphasize the importance of this operation and when in fact to grow you need to have systems in place and this is your system. It serves as both through Operation Manual and your checklist of everything that happens.

So you will need this actually as we discuss about the next step which is to grow your team. But for now it may be tedious but it's the most important element to growing your business and to be able to get on top of it. Track everything and record it all and I promise you that your future self will thank you.

When you set up a system and a great process and you have these places in place and the steps in place your future self who is golfing on a Tuesday morning with your friend knowing that your business is running smoothly without you will think yourself you will think to yourself that you took the time to create this system and I know I'm being a little redundant here.
