In this chapter I want to discuss about the value of live networking in addition to just plain speaking with everyone you know live. Networking refers to going to Chamber of Commerce meetings and other business networking events in your area.
When you first starting out go to as many of these networking groups as you can. There's a lot of events held in every single community in city. And just go to all of them. You're going to meet a ton of people and you will get business. And as I previously mentioned Internet marketing is something that all business owners are looking to do.
And when you show up to the party scene you know how to do it you're not going to have any shortage of people to discuss with. The main reason behind this is because at all networking events are set up for business owners to pitch their business and to drum up sales.
So you're offering the very same thing but in the form of marketing online something that is that every business owner knows they need to be doing so most business owners I know personally would rather spend a little bit of money making an investment every month to guarantee increased traffic online and in turn increase business and they would much rather do that over go into a business mixer any day.
So by going to these networking events you're going to drum up business. And it's a great way to get things kick started. However I will say that going to networking events can get tedious as you have to resist everyone's advance advances to pitch you their own business.
There's going to be people with tee-shirt businesses and notary services and I even met a guy one time at a networking event he did a medical marijuana delivery service. So there are people they have all different kinds of businesses. You probably won't want most of what these people have to offer but they will all want what you have to offer.
Now again you've got to stay true to your niche and don't be afraid to screen potential client's right there on the spot. Also you don't have to attend many of these events before you get a pretty good list of prospects that will turn into client. It's so along the way be sure that you're tracking everything that works at these networking meetings.
Maybe you come up with the great elevator pitch. Be sure to put that in your sales manual. Maybe you have a great question that you ask that really opens up clients and lets you know what their pain point is and what they why they even want to get into online marketing.
Put that in your sales manual everything that you find that is working. Be sure to document it in your sales manual. And then that way your sales team can go to these same meetings for you. But in your place and then they can use all of these tools that you've already found to be successful. So I want to share with you just a few key places that you can get started.
First of all go to Chambers of Commerce meetings. Every city has a chamber of commerce and they're designed to help local businesses connect with each other and learn and they always have a guest speaker and the guest speaker is usually discussing about internet marketing.
It's a great place to go and you know you can raise your hand and say hey I know how to do that. And as soon as it's over other people are going to come up and want to discuss to you and give you their business card and so forth. Also a lot of the bigger cities have mixers where again they're just networking events.
Also there's formal groups that are set up to give each other referrals like BNA I enlisted. I went to be and I personally when I first started and I thought it was great.
There's a lot of great is smaller businesses certainly you're not going to get any $18000 gigs out of it. But there are certainly smaller. But it's a great it's a great organization and you can usually find people with pretty good integrity and your clients are going to be good people there. Of book there's also meet at dot.com where there's meet ups all the time of people look into networking looking and grow and to grow their business.
So those are just a few key places that you can use to get started. And that's it for this section in the next section I'm going to discuss about a master networking tip that nobody discuss about and if you do it's going to work amazingly well for your business.
