Looking down at my phone screen I waited for a text from June to know they made it back from Canada. After we got Tucker's body, Cypress and Juniper drove to the Canadian border to burn and dispose of any time of evidence although it was an eight-hour drive from New York City. I was a total mess, an anxious mess to be specific.

I barely slept last night due to the fear of them being caught and it being traced back to us. I wasn't only afraid of the authorities but also scared shitless of Xander and Archer finding out. We had to do it though, Pierce would be arrested for the murder of Tucker if we didn't. I just had to keep telling myself that he deserved it for what he did to me.

"Hello? Earth to Aspen." Aster's voice took me out of my thoughts. My eyes glanced from my phone screen up to Aster who had cocked an eyebrow at me "What's wrong? You seem off today."

"Nothing. Just worried about an upcoming exam." I lied, letting out a sigh as I placed my phone down on the table letting myself not worry about June and Cypress just for a moment. I knew Aster knew something was up, he always did but I was not intending on telling him the truth anytime soon.

"Why do you think your parents are even doing this?" Evangeline spoke up as she took a seat next to me at the round kitchen table. Today my parents were taking Aster, Evangeline, Pierce, and I out for dinner-we just didn't know why. My guess was it was my mom pushing my dad to go so we could all get "quality family time."

We were going to the Blue, the same restaurant where Pierce and I went with his family only for Mr. Gunner to humiliate me in front of everyone by bringing up my history with Cayde and the charges I pressed. Such fond memories...

"Who knows. It's already six, we need to get going or we're going to be late." Aster grabbed his keys, signaling we had to get going. Looking down at my phone screen I noticed it was already six and Pierce was nowhere to be found. He was supposed to meet me at Aster's at 5:30 and he hadn't even sent me a text or call.

"He can meet us there. We can't wait any longer, Aspen." Aster spoke up, making my eyes snap up from my phone screen. I let out a sigh and stood up from the chair, sliding my phone into the pocket of my black leather jacket.

I couldn't help but worry, it wasn't like Pierce to not tell me where he was when he was running late. I shook it off and figured he was running behind at work or something with the gang. Pulling my silk-colored champagne dress down, I adjusted it around my body as I followed Evangeline and Aster out of the house.

"I'm worried, Pierce is never like this," I admitted honestly to Evangeline as I began to text him asking where he could possibly be and reminding him we had dinner with my parents tonight.

"I'm sure he's just running late, he'll probably just meet us at the restaurant," Evangeline reassured as we both made our way into Aster's truck. I shuffled my body into the back seat and buckled up before beginning to text Xander if he had been with Pierce.
