Don't let Cayde win. Aspen's words repeated over and over in my head on repeat. Every time I heard the echo of her voice in my head I could her face full of defeat and her body fighting to survive. I knew what I had to do and I knew this needed to end once and for all.

My eyes focused in, darkening as I saw the black van approaching in the emergency lane in front of the hospital. The van sped through the lot, running over curbs and sidewalks as people ran for safety while belting out screams for help. I stood still in the middle of the lane, my chest rising and falling frantically as I kept the gun clutched into my hand.

The van came to an abrupt stop and I expected some "goons" to exit but was met with facing Cayde and my own father. Cayde walked around the van slowly with a gun pointed down in his hand, an evil smirk twitching on his lips. His shirt was soaked in blood and I could see the hole the bullet had left in his jacket, tearing through the leather.

My eyes darted over to my dad who did not share the same smug look, instead his face was filled with anger. I could feel the burn in my chest as the anger took over my body. How fucking could he do this to her? My father was a piece of shit but never did I think even he could stoop this low. I guess that was my first mistake actually believing he had some good left. I looked through him, the familiarity fading away as he became a complete stranger but that's all he has been my entire life.

"Hospital, classy choice," Cayde shouted out as they kept the distance between us significant. "Convenient for your ass who is about to end up there. Come on Gunner, you really think you can take two against one? Give it up now. There is no shot."

"Fuck you." I gritted the words, my eyes sending a glare to them as I heard sirens in the far. I couldn't stomach more words, I was overwhelmed with racing thoughts about the condition Aspen was in. I looked at Cayde knowing I had to kill him and I would do it gladly. After all the pain, all the manipulation, and all the trauma he had caused Aspen...he was done walking free on this earth.

"Now let's talk about this Pierce." My father began to approach me, walking slowly in my direction. I could tell he was growing nervous as the sounds of the sirens had gotten closer. His time was ending as the sirens got louder. I wanted to jump them both but I had to think rationally if I wanted to make it out alive.

Taking my hand, I formed it into a fist and threw it into my father's stomach as soon as he had gotten close enough. I could feel the wind get knocked out of him as I watched as he stumbled back, grabbing at his stomach. He struggled to stand up straight but managed while gripping his abdomen. "So no talking..." With his words said, he raised a fist to me and sent it directly into my jaw.

My whole head pushed to the side upon the force of the punch but I regained my balance quickly and sent a punch directly to the center of his face. I could feel my knuckles crack under impact. My dad stumbled back once again but before he could regain his balance I launched towards him. He pushed his body against the hood of the van, his back cracking as it came into contact with the metal logo on the front.
