My eyes flung open at the sound of my phone alarm blaring through the room. Sitting up quickly, I peeked over to the window that had a beam of light shining through. Grabbing hold of my phone, my eyes widened when I saw the time was already nine a.m.
"Shit," I mumbled, forcing myself out of bed as I frantically began to get ready. Looking over to the bed, Greyson had only moved the pillow over her head to block out the sound of my alarm. Grabbing one of the throw pillows off the floor, I chucked it toward her body in hopes to wake her up.
"Greyson! Wake up!" I exclaimed as I slipped into a pair of jeans and buttoned them around my waist. "We slept through my alarms. We're late for Juniper and Pierce's birthday breakfast that Xander had planned!"
It was Pierce and Juniper's 19th birthday today, and due to us being up here and Xander and Phoneix kind of stealing the show with the upcoming wedding-Xander tried to make it as special as possible. Mrs. Gunner was also here, more excited than ever to celebrate her twin's birthdays.
"Well, it's a good thing I don't like either of them." Greyson groaned, pulling the cover over her face to block out the light from the room. I threw on an oversized sweater before walking over to Greyson's side of the bed and grabbing onto her arm.
"Nope, you're coming with me. Let's go, Crawford." I argued, pulling her out of bed which she plopped down, throwing her body to the ground. I released my grip on her, Greyson laying with her back flat on the ground.
"Is this how you wake all your friends, Ambrosia?" Greyson let out a huff in frustration, pushing herself off from the floor as she took her blonde hair out of a messy bun and followed me into the bathroom connected to our room.
The two of us stood in front of the mirror beginning to brush our teeth and hair, getting ready for the day as fast as possible. "Oh, so we're friends?" I teased, cocking an eyebrow at her as I stared at her reflection in the mirror.
"No..." Greyson trailed off, giving me a glare once she realized what she had just walked into. I didn't know if Greyson and I would consider ourselves friends, but maybe this would be the beginning of one.
I couldn't stop thinking about what had happened yesterday, between Pierce and me on the balcony. For a moment we were able to talk as people, something I missed every day. Pierce was my best friend, I told him everything. Once the breakup happened, I lost my boyfriend and my best friend. Suddenly I found myself bottling things up with nothing to say.
Even if Pierce and I couldn't be together, I hoped we could move in the direction of being tolerant of each other.
After Mrs. Gunner came out, I left Pierce to himself. The rest of the day I spent with June, Triston, and Evangeline. All of them got pretty drunk last night, but I couldn't with the anxiety of Cayde's arrival. I was still at a loss of what I was supposed to do. Cayde had no limits, which I knew meant my life could be in danger.
