Twiddling my thumbs above my phone screen, I stared down at the text Juniper had sent me. My eyes fell down to the screen of my phone when another message appeared, June saying we were so getting drunk tonight. My stomach turned at the thought, knowing I would not be able to do such a thing with Cayde on the hunt.

Today was the day the entire gang, plus my parents, Mrs. Gunner, and Reese would be traveling up to upstate New York's seven pines winter resort for Xander and Phoenix's wedding to be held this weekend. Everyone was ecstatic, ready to spend a few days away from the city.

I was in the middle of holding myself from a mental breakdown. I was certain I'd be returning back to school but Xander pushed for me to continue to do my work online with the fake note he provided from when we went to North Carolina. Although the school wasn't my biggest concern right now, it was Cayde.

He knew where I'd be and he was already sending demands followed by threats. I couldn't tell anyone, but it was eating me alive. I barely slept last night, trying to possibly think of how I was going to take Cayde on by myself.

My day had gotten worse when we all met at Xanders to begin driving up to the resort. The seats in all the cars had filled up quickly, leaving me to be stuck with Pierce. It got even better when I realized Mercury would be riding shotgun in Pierce's challenger, leaving me stuck in the backseat of the car for a three-hour drive.

When I found out, I texted Noah immediately-begging him to come with me so I wouldn't have to endure it alone. Noah didn't want to but he did it for me, knowing how uncomfortable it would be for me.

So now we were 2 hours and 30 minutes into the trip, Noah and I sitting in the back as I tried to not throw up as my anxiety attacked my mind. Meanwhile, Mercury sat in the passenger seat, making sure to have a hand on Pierce at all times and drop as many innuendos or blatant sexual comments in front of me.

"Stop at the nearest drug store, we need to get something," Mercury commented as she reached over to Pierce's bicep, her fingers grabbing onto his skin. Tearing my eyes away, I put my focus on the window as we blew past trees.

"It's an emergency," Mercury added when Pierce didn't respond. I didn't need to look to feel the rolling of his eyes. It was bad enough to see Mercury all over him, it was worse to be in a confined space for hours on end with them. I felt like I was suffocating.
