JANUARY 14TH

My eyes fluttered open to the warm sensation of lips trailing along my neck, leaving feather-light kisses on my skin. Each touch sent a ripple of warmth coursing through me, and a soft hum escaped my lips as I turned in the plush bed, cocooning myself further in the fluffy white comforter. A smile tugged at the corners of my lips, though my eyes stayed shut, savoring the moment as the kisses traveled from my neck to my collarbone.

"Good morning, beautiful," Pierce's deep voice murmured against my collarbone, the words brushing against my skin like a caress. His lips pressed one last lingering kiss before he pulled back, his body hovering over mine but keeping his weight propped up.

I forced my eyes open, still heavy with sleep, and found myself gazing into his stormy gray irises. He leaned over me, his chest brushing mine, radiating a warmth that seeped into every inch of me.

"Good morning," I whispered, unable to fight the smile spreading across my face. His gaze was tender, his presence grounding, and yet he always managed to leave me breathless. He reached out, tucking a loose strand of my brown hair behind my ear. The gesture was so simple, yet it carried an intimacy that made my heart swell.

"Happy Birthday, baby," A grin broke across his face. His words sent butterflies fluttering wildly in my chest, their wings brushing against my ribs in a delightful frenzy.

"Thank you," I chuckled softly, heat rushing to my cheeks as his eyes remained locked on mine. There was something about the way he looked at me, like I was the center of his universe, that made the rest of the world fade away. Today was my nineteenth birthday, and the moment felt surreal. A year ago, I couldn't have imagined being here-not just in Aspen, Colorado, but alive, truly living and loving with Pierce by my side.

Christmas had come and gone, and now, just two days into the new year, we were here on a week-long escape. Pierce had planned everything, though he remained tight-lipped about what the day held. He looked like he'd been awake for hours, freshly showered and impeccably groomed. His crisp, clean scent teased my senses, making it harder to resist pulling him closer.
