I pulled away from Pierce as the song had ended, my head spinning with different thoughts. I didn't know how to feel. Ever since I saw those letters Pierce had written to my mom about me and that the ring wasn't given to Mercury I had felt relief. Nothing was perfect, but I was slowly starting to see the Pierce that I once knew.
I hadn't forgiven him for everything, and I wasn't sure I would ever fully forgive him but what I did know was that he was proving himself all over again to me. "I just need to use the bathroom." I breathed out, looking up at Pierce. "I'll be back."
I needed to get away for just a moment and think about everything. About what we were, about what happened, about what has led us to this moment, and what could happen. "Okay." Pierce nodded, knowing that my mind was probably racing with thoughts.
I took a few steps back before turning my back to him and grabbing my things from the table before heading out of the reception hall. As I walked out, I couldn't help but let a smile crack at the edges of my lips. I could still feel his lips on mine, a feeling I had been craving.
I pushed the doors open to the bathroom, setting my phone and purse down on the counter as I placed my palms flat against the granite countertop. I looked up into the mirror, staring at my reflection as I breathed heavily and processed everything that has happened.
The bathroom had stalls with platinum steel doors and yellow bulbs that lined the outer rim of the mirror, giving the room a yellow tint. I tried to calm my breath, thinking about everything that had happened.
He lied to me...but he stood up for me.
I was conflicted on what to do and I knew my heart was doing most of thinking instead of my brain. As my head whirled with different ideas, the doors busted open to Juniper and Greyson rushing into the bathroom. It was a pairing I didn't expect to see, but the two looked at me with wide eyes and a mouth full of questions.
"Oh my god, there you are!" June exclaimed as the two of them stood on each of my sides. "You leave after a moment like that?! Everyone saw that, we're practically all dying in there because of the HEAT that was just produced-"
"Are you okay?" Greyson asked, reaching for my wrist as she clasped her hand around me. "I mean we weren't sure after the kiss you left. We both just wanted to make sure you were okay."
"I'm okay guys...really, thank you." I offered a small smile, and in the reception I was okay. Now I was swarmed with a mixture of emotions and I didn't know what to think or do.
"Does this mean you guys are back together?" June asked eagerly, her blue eyes boring into me as she bit at her lip in eagerness.
"No." I shook my head, "It doesn't mean we're back together, and Pierce knows that. It was just a moment..."
"Don't want to rain on your parade or anything, but that was more than just a moment and you know it." Greyson narrowed her brown eyes in my direction, "I mean does Pierce know that?"
