"Aspen, hurry up!" Pierce's voice called from outside of the bedroom. I stuffed the last of my clothes into my suitcase before forcing the zipper closed. I pulled the suitcase off the bed and looked back at the closed bedroom door. It had been the next day and we were leaving to get on a plane to North Carolina.
The gang was split half and half, some thinking it was our safest bet to leave while others were tired of running. To be honest, I was tired of running too, but I knew it was for all of our safety. Grabbing my phone, I looked down to see two missed calls from my dad. Today we had plans to meet up for lunch but I had to call and tell him I was sick so I could get on a plane.
My mom had known what was going on, but I wasn't going to tell my dad and neither was she. He would just worry more and give me yet another life lecture. I hated lying to him, I really did but I just wish he would understand this was my life now whether he liked it or not. I hoped my mom would be able to rationalize with him about the gang, but every time she mentioned it he would shut her down.
"Easier to ask forgiveness than it is for permission," I muttered to myself, sliding my phone into my back pocket. I pulled on my leather jacket and grabbed onto the handle of my suitcase before beginning to head out of Pierce and I's bedroom. We were all supposed to be meeting at the airport, to take off together. Although Archer had flown down last night to establish a proper house for us to get into.
"Ok, I'm ready-" I froze as I walked into the kitchen to see about five different handguns, two rifles, and one AR sitting on the table along with filled magazines of different types of ammo "What the hell is this?"
"Guns." Pierce loaded up a magazine before snapping it into the gun and cocking the top of it back. "Yeah, I kind of gathered that." My voice dripped with sarcasm "Why are they out and since when do we have all of these?"
I peaked over to the black duffel bag that sat on the kitchen counter that was loaded with different ammo brands as well as stacks of cash. "Xander told me to bring them," Pierce explained, beginning to place them into the duffel bag "For precaution."
"Um, what about airport security?" I furrowed my brows at him, wanting to know exactly how Pierce planned to get past security. He would be arrested on the spot once they searched his bags, no one has ever tried to sneak multiple guns onto a plane and be successful.
Pierce looked over to me, a smirk growing on his lips as he let out a small chuckle "Oh Aspen, that's cute. We're not going through security." I began to open my mouth to debate Pierce on what his plan was exactly, but was interrupted as soon as the doorbell had gone off.
We both became silent, our eyes darting towards the door then back to each other. "Were you expecting anyone?" I asked hesitantly, my heart dropping in my chest. I began to worry that Cayde how found us, that we weren't actually going to make it to North Carolina. I mean he had our address, what else could he be waiting for?
